Best BBQ under approx $500?

It's my 5th wedding anniversary next week and I finally worked out what to buy my Husband, a bbq! We lost our last one in the flood and he keeps saying how much he misses it, so I would like to get him a nice new one.

I don't know much about them (brand wise), so some help would be much appreciated.

Any suggestions on wear to get a bargain?

Cheers,

Baycie

Aldi had a nice 4 burner hooded job with side wok burner for $139 or something ridiculous the other day when I was there; so it's probably worth checking your local!

IME there's not much quality difference between 'cheap' and 'good' brands, they all look like they come out of the same factories in China IMHO; the big secret to making them last is buying a decent cover & using it!

The money you save will buy a good gas cylinder & a hell of a lot of meat IMHO! :)

+1 . I got a cheapy from kmart and it was almost identical to my brothers $900 brand name barby . Looked like it had come from the same factory . It had a couple of extra attachments but that was it . Kmart have some great specials on their barbies from time to time .

  • Thanks guys, I'll have to check out Aldi then! The only problem will be fitting it in the car.

  • The only thing that really sets a bbq apart is all stainless steel construction.

I've seen very few (none actually) with SS construction, they usually reserve that for a few superficial panels; the majority of the structure is still the same mild steel with enamel/paint as the rest of the range! ;)

  • Ohhh yes thanks BartholemewH, that reminded me that our last one had wood on it and the wood part did not last well.
