  • What does this normally go for?

    • +1

When reduced $35-39. This is the lowest I've seen.

    • Woolies had 4-Pack Redbulls for $5.1 last week, which works out at $1.275/ can, exactly the same as this deal, minus delivery.

A randomized control study in 2017 showed that only the Red bull sugar version had any significant cognitive benefit (it was also not that major)

    sugar free did not.

This is to my dismay as i use to chug these down like crazy as a med student (though i was also eating bananas - hence why i had a percieved benefit (fructose from the bananas)

Edit: Before someone trys to attack, yes sugar, caffeine and the B vitamins should be studied individually and together to assess improvements as it's not clear whether it's the specific combination contained in red bull or sugar and caffeine in unison

    • Is there an alternative/healthier source for taurine beside energy drink? What food would be highest in taurine per 100g?

      • +1

no that i know of, i use L taurine powder for running

        • Thanks for your answer. I'm trying to switch from eating pills to nutrients from food. Guess its hard with taurine.

          • +1

@ripesashimi: other than meat i can't think of any other source, i know tuna has a high content (i use to eat a lot to get the taurine like 300mg/100g)

    Cheers mate!

  • $27, looks like it is worth,, thanks OP..

  • $5/L that's interesting because I'm a soft drink fan which is usually around $1/L but water wins at $2.20ish/KL (kilo litre or 1000 litres) which is basically 1-2 cents a litre.

Kind of crazy when you think about it.

Food markup is usually anywhere from 100% to 1000% of cost price aka the price it costs to make it.

But choose whatever and live your life.
