FTTP NBN - Have a ADSL2+ Modem Router

Hi Guys,
I am moving to a new place that has FTTP and all active. The kogan guys are providing a device but that will take 5 business days.
I read online that with FTTP we can use our ADSL2+ Router modem just as router.

Any ideas?
Regards,
Dinesh

If it has a WAN Port then yes you can.
Just connect Ethernet from WAN port on the modem to the active FttP port on the NBN termination box.

    • Thanks for that, was wondering for when I change…..do NBN supply that cable with their box if anyone knows?

      • I doubt NBN would supply one..

You don't have an Ethernet/Network cable at home somewhere?
Check the box your Modem came in, similarly check the boxes of any device that might connect to the internet by cable (eg AppleTV, TelstraTV, Laptop or Desktop computer or even your TV)
If you still don't have one, ask the IT guy (or girl) at work or a friendly computery person, they're sure to have a spare.
Or worst case go buy one at BigW/KMart/or any computer retailer for a few dollars.

        • Thanks again scubacoles.

Reading (confusing) posts online that say my Netgear R7000 may be speed capped (some say, others don't) but Oz's shitty NBN means that the cap is all that's commonly available anyway, I think (noob at this NBN malarkey).

    • Thanks.I just checked and my modem router from Optus has the WAN aka Fibre port.

What is a "fibre port"? are you talking about a cable modem/router?

If you don't have a WAN port, just disable the modem part and plug the network cable into port 1, the modem/router should be able to adapt.
