Sub $650 Phone Recommendations with 3.5" Jack

I'm looking to upgrade my GS7 and was hoping to get some recommendations.
I don't really want to spend much more than $650.
Key features for me:
Headphone jack!
Decent camera, tele a bonus
Decent battery life
Prefer a smaller phone

I've been eyeing of the LG V40 which ticks the first two but is a big and doesn't look to have the best battery. The Mi 9t Pro looks pretty good, just a bit big and at the very top of my budget.

Any other ideas?
Cheers

Mi 9T 128GB non pro if you don't used it for games, can be had for $414.8 off eBay plus. 'PEACHY15'
Differences between 9T and 9T Pro explained here:

Or the Redmi K20 Pro (9T Pro) 128GB is $532.1 off eBay plus.

    The LG V40 (158.8 x 75.7 x 7.6 mm 169 g) is actually longer and wider than the 9T (156.70 x 74.30 x 8.80mm 191 g). Not as thick due to smaller battery.

    • Is the Mi 9T eBay deal you are referring to from seller 7272wil?

    • +1 for the LG v40. I've had mine a couple of weeks and very happy with it (coming from s7 edge). Battery lasts about a day.
Certainly notice a huge improvement on how my music sounds via wired headphones, this was the main draw card for me. Was looking at the v30+ but the improved camera and screen was enough for me to pay the extra (paid approx $620).

Pixel 3A check all your boxes, plus it got camera that is comparable with $1000+ phone.

  • Mi 9 SE global edition. No 3.5 Jack but it comes with an adaptor to convert the USB to 3.5mm

    Headphone jack!

Why do you want to keep using ~70 year old tech in a 2019 smartphone?

I listen to audiobooks when I go to bed and can't find Bluetooth headphones that are as small as the ones I use which is important when lying on my side.

      • I'd go a Samsung S9 which you should be able to get for the $500-$550 mark. But I'd also go a pair of Samsung Wear Buds which you can get for ~$150. I lie on my side in bed with them and forget I've got them in my ears.

Meets your budget and sets you up with suitable wireless buds.

        Well get a adaptor

Huawei already comes with one. You willing to spend $600 on old tech.

What's next ? You want a removable battery too ?

  • If you're patient and fast on the draw, you can snipe some great deals.
The Samsung Note 9 can be had for $700, now that the Note10 is out, and the S10 variants have price dropped.

If you can't wait, just grab a Samsung S9 Plus for $550 instead.
There's many out there in that price bracket ranging from Used, to Owner Refurbished, to New/Samsung Refurbished, to even Brand New.

Just get the regular Black model with 64GB storage, the less efficient and slower Exynos processor, and the less detailed Isocell camera. But at least you can root it.

  • Nokia 6.1 or 6.2 when it comes out. Way below your budget. Invest the rest and you can thank me when you can retire a year or two earlier!

  • Thanks for the feedback. The S9 looks to be a pretty good deal these days so I think I might wait for a deal on one of those.
    Cheers
