Travel with Go Sim

Has anyone travelled and used this sim? looking at US in August and NZ later in the year. Possibly Europe next year. Is there a better option that will work globally or is it better to purchase a sim wherever you go?

  • In the US you can buy prepaid sim fairly cheaply and they even throw in the phone. It all depends on how much you are going to use, and for how long. Also depends where in the US you are travelling to. And if you are wanting calls from Australia to US or just for USA to USA. (Sim and phone at Walmart, Target Kmart etc.)

You pay for calls out and in, but rate is fairly low . eg AT&T gophone. 10c a minute or unlimited calls in and out $2 a day

Your gosim shows rates USA to USA of $2.60 a minute

NZ is a different kettle of fish, hard to get prepaid with cheap rates.

  • Thanks for that Ozpete-Husband will be on west coast about a month and I'll join him last 10 days. Have just had a contact in US advise that Verazon will give you a prepaid phone and providing it is returned within 30 days you get a refund and just pay for calls made. He works for the company so the info should be correct. The AT&T 10c min sounds pretty good as well.
The lowest sim in NZ was $50 with Voda last time I was there so bit the bullet and paid exorbitant roaming fees so maybe a prepaid calling card may work.
The GO SIM global + has rates of 47c min. The USA only takes big chunks of cash.
