Did the V in Louis Vuitton fall off?

  • What kind of luggage is it that its worth $500??

I was travelling for a wedding and they lost the bag, they found it broken, and my suit ruined (rain damage?). Its an American Tourister. The compensation was for additional suit hire, and broken bag. Receipts provided. I hope I have addressed your concerns.

      • Out of curiosity, did you have travel insurance?

Wouldn’t the excess make claiming almost redundant?

I have travel insurance - no point making a claim $250 excess. This was clear Virgin issue and they were happy to assist.

  • First thing is to check that the miles don't have any T&C

    Virgin is quite generous..

my aunt came to Australia a few weeks ago from the US and on the return flight they oversold her flight and she got bumped to another flight an hour later and was given US$800 as compensation.

she only paid US$550 for the ticket. there was 2 people travelling and got US$1600. so her trip to Sydney and Melbourne from LA was free

I was flying a few days after her and was wishing for the same deal.. but that didn't happen

Hi OP, the answer is - it depends. What is of more value to you right now?

If 50,000 velocity points will tip you over to have enough for a business class flight redemption, and that a goal you are chasing, then it is well worth it. It is near impossible to earn 50,000 velocity points with $500 spend.

However, if flight redemptions aren't that valuable to you, and you want the cash now to buy new luggage/treat yourself, then receiving $500 now is a no brainer.

  • Cash. Easy decision.

  • I'd ask them to double the points offer… Say it's more than reasonable counter offer

  • can you at least give us some juicy details of the story behind this?

    • see above

      • take the cash yo!

  • Take the cash. Points pay no interest and are in a constant downward spiral of devaluation.
