Cat Scratch Post Recommendations?

I'm looking for 1-2 good quality/tall?

I've bought a few in the past and their rubbish! I'd rather spend more and get one cats like using.

My cats have been scratching their nails on the new leather sofa corner 😬

Thank you

Look for one with sisal twisted rope.

    • My felines have never liked those. I got a cardboard version like this a few months ago and it gets lots of use.

      • I found one for $12, will definitely buy to try.

Just buy a really expensive lounge set. They love those.

Edit - oh, you already know of this secret.

  • I honestly don’t believe there are any good quality one. Just the They are meant for cats to destroy and not much can withstand their daily scratching. Just buy the ones from eBay for $50-70 and replace it every two or three years

  • Definitely Cat Tree King. They are huge, very sturdy and well made. They will be a bit more expensive (a simple post with bed costs $189) but they do afterpay. I upgraded for my two cats from a crappy $70 one and the beds/hammocks are 3 times the size. I think the tree I purchased weighs 45kg

    • Cheapest I see is $249 on sale, however found some on eBay and AliExpress for $90-110

  • Wow you're willing to pay a lot for a scratching post!
I have PVC pipe wrapped with sisal rope for half the length and vehicle carpet for the other half, standing on a base of wood. After 4 years it's almost time to replace the rope.

  • After 20 years of buying cheap crappy looking cat scratching posts I was suckered into buying something that looked a little nicer.. I ended up with something like this. Not sure if you can get them in Australia, but I can see some from the same people like this

It has been money well spent - it doesn't look butt ugly in the lounge room. Both cats enjoy spying on the backyard from the various levels of the cat post - the large boy cat loves ruling the roost from the very top and snoozing in the sun. Out quieter girl cat curls up on the middle level and watches life go by. Both seem to love the sisal rope in preference to carpet.

    Definitely money well spent.

  • Our cats love the SmartCat Ultimate Scratching Post - https://www.luckypet.com.au/smart-cat-ultimate-cat-scratch-p… We got it cheaper during an eBay sale. There are two different types, but this is the one we got. The cats really love this one and it is their main scratching pole. One of them hurls herself at it and climbs it with all four paws on it at once. Our cats are small and I think the most important thing is to get a tall one, so they can stretch when scratching.

    • How much did you pay? Thanks

      • It was $106, after 20% off. I had gotten a few other things too on the order and the postage was $7.05 in total.
