3G Phone, Can I Still Use It?

My landline is playing up and Telstra dont seem to be able to fix it. In the meantime I have to make calls. I can buy a cheap 3G phone but can I still use it? I dont know anything about this. Thanks

    Yes 3G phones still work fine. I have an Alcatel Pixi 3.5 and can make calls and text.

    I just bought one cheap and some credit online and then Telstra turned up and fixed my home phone. So it will be my starter into the mobile world

    I had only a tablet which I dont like but was essential for receiving sms. used my first app recently, dont like em but had to for deals Have never sent an sms only received

    I thought you had to have the right 3G bands for Tls, Opt or Voda?
    850, 900 or 2100 Mhz.

    So a $30 4G phone would be more likely to cover all companies. Again check which bands are needed (I'm too lazy).

      it arrived unassembled so going to take it to telstra this week, I bought it from them and start the 3G journey
