Need a Suggestion/Recommendation on Buying Trampoline

I'm in the market for buying a trampoline. My budget is around $400. I have one 3 year old and second one is on the way.

Plenty of space in backyard.

I couldn't find any past deals or forum discussion related to Trampoline on this site.

Questions

  1. Should we consider buying second hand or avoid for safety reason.
  2. Which brand/model do you recommend.
  3. Should we get spring or spring free trampoline
  4. What are the things to consider in buying decision other than price, warranty and dimensions

Any ideas or comments are welcome.

Thanks in advance

Avoid spring free - they sell them as ‘safe’ but lack of springs means lack of bounce and lack of fun. We know lots of people who bought expensive spring free ones only to find their kids don’t use it because it’s not fun.

We bought a brand new 10” spring trampoline on eBay for about $150 delivered. It doesn’t have any netting or padding but it just means your kids learn to be careful on it.

  • We bought a 10ft trampoline for $99 from ALDI Salisbury 2 weeks ago. It wasn't in the catalogue, I think they were clearing out old stock before this weeks sale which has a smaller one available for $129. There were only two available. Other one might still be there!
For $99 it seems an absolute bargain. All the safety nets/pads etc. The kids love it.

    • Cheers mate..I might visit Salisbury store tomorrow on my way to Darra. Do you know the weight limit of it..

jump on gumtree, people give them away

  • We've bought 2 trampolines from Kmart and had no issues with them.

  • KMart trampoline is fine
    We got it on sale.
Remember these things are in the weather all day every day and will deteriorate accordingly. So you could buy 2 of these over a few years for same as a one mid price dearer one..
Plus trampoline measurements are generally edge to edge of the frame, not tramp net..

    • Thanks…After reading this comments i'm inclined to get the KMART one..Just need wife's approval now

  • My daughter is an advanced trampoline coach accredited with gymnastics australia. She says get a 3/4 or bigger rectangular trampoline as it's impossible to get your bearings when doing flips / spins on a round trampoline.

She also recommends lessons as injuries can be quite bad if your technique is wrong.

    • when we bought our house, it came with an inground trampoline. Couple of years ago, called up the place that is advertised on it about getting replacement padding around the outer tri of it, found out the thing cost $25k to put it

      • Seriously ? That's close to installing a small swimming pool

  • Vuly, if you want quality. I ordered their 14' round with safety net (wouldn't have one w/o it). My then 15 yr old jumped multiple times a day for over 30 mins. so hard that the mat nearly touched the ground & his butt was up near the top of the net!

That thing lasted 3 yrs before I sold it to a friend because our new rental had no room for it. I changed the mat once as my boy is BIG and that thing held up very well.
