Which M.2 SSD Should I Purchase for a New Acer Nitro 5 to Install Ubuntu 18.04?

I recently purchased an Acer Nitro 5 which came with a 1TB HDD and a 256GB SSD. It came with Windows 10 which I intend to keep as my main operating system.

But I also want to install Ubuntu 18.04. Initially I intended to create a partition and install it on the same SSD, but after encountering difficulties getting this to work I have decided to just buy a small M.2 SSD for Ubuntu to have all to itself and then dual boot into either drive.

I will likely only be using this Ubuntu installation for programming and web development so the SSD doesn't have to be big.

Not being all too savvy about computer hardware, I would appreciate some advice on what to buy. Thanks!

i would propably go with a 250GB Samsung 860 EVO or 970 if you want to pay abit more.

    • Like this one? And is $127.20 a pretty good price?

        check staticice.com.au

can be had for $115 if you pick it up locally at certain stores.

so if you want it on ebay, you would want to get it same price or cheaper with 15-20% off deals and free postage.

        • Thanks!

  • I just want to know that if my laptop has sata 2tb hdd and an empty M.2 SSD slot, will I be able to install windows 10 (pre installed with laptop) to the M.2 SSD which I will be installing myself?
And then can I use sata 2TB hdd for additional storage purpose?
I just want to enhance overall performance of the laptop (bootup time/ probably gaming too)
