I am thinking of buying Kwikset Kevo 2nd Gen Connected Electronic Deadbolt lock for main entarnce door of my house .
Reasons are : convenient locking and unlocking of deadbolt via phone bluetooth ann can also use locking/unlocking via conventional key hole .Looking forward to user experience with this 2nd gen Kevi deadbolt to decide go/no go on this .

i have the unit first thing is it's awesome kid loves it (has a keyfob on his bag), Wife likes it and in all honest i can go out drinking no keys except for my phone.

The ability to send out keys to workers for a set time works well.

    The issues though:

-Battery usuage at first was high lasted like 2 months but after a firmware update runs for like 6 months at a time (use rechargables)
-I've had a couple of times when the unit will crash (twice) and you can't get in without a key so stuck waiting for the wife to get home with a key.
-Depending on the door you have (due to expansion etc.) sometimes it will have trouble locking (we have ours on auto lock)
-Bluetooth can be an issue if your turning it off and on all the time (i have to due to work) but a reset of the phone and starting the app backup fixes it if an issue.

Any q's you have yell out as a heads up though if removing an existing deadbolt that was a pain without proper tools 2 hours drilling our the existing screws.

    • Thanks for sharing your experience . I dont have existing deadbolt issue as house is still in construction phase .

Qs : Can I buy keyfob separatley later or it comes with unit ?
: Any issue found with keyfobs ?
: How about "after sale support " if just in case I need to use that

You may want to check your home contents insurance policy. Some companies insist on double deadlocks which this unit is not.

    • Name one?

      • Name what?

        • Insurance company name

          • @boomramada: Proinsure

In most Metropolitan areas, the minimum security required for Contents insurance is
            1) Windows have keyed locks
            2) Doors have double keyed deadlocks
            3) Sliding doors - not present or patio bolts

            • @Ryanek: Omg what kind of insurance company is that. Tons of questions for quotation, then they say they get back to me. That's nuts.
