What format does it record in? What is the resolution of the recording (ie, Full HD, 1024x768, 640x480, etc)? Is it black and white recording or colour? Please be more descriptive about the details of the item and put them in your post rather than expecting everyone to click through to your website so you can generate more hits for nothing.

      lol Full HD

    • Presumably 640x480, which is roughly 300 kilopixels as mentioned.

I have been told* that James Cameron shot all of the panning aerial scenes in Avatar with this. It has a 7.8gigapixel sensor camera that records in 4D. I'm guessing you probably assumed this already.

(*)But my sources are not always reliable.

      • I can confirm this to be 100% true

    • Lol to the negs.

Cant believe how touchy people are here. My questions regarding this "deal" are valid asking the rep to advise of resolution, whether the recording is in b/w or colour, etc. Theres no info on the FPS of the recording either. The answers to these questions arent stated in this post or on the website. Boo hoo to those who didnt like these questions that they had to neg it. LOL to ya!

  • I hope this is a typo, or is this normal because of the camera.
    Flying time: about 5~6 minutes
    Charging time: about 40 minutes

    • -1

Yeh thats cause of the camera

    • +1

That's quite typical of these helicopters. They have small batteries so they stay light and use less to fly around, charging is done via plugin to remote or USB.

    • if i dont switch on the camera.. will i get longer fly time?

  • Any samples of the video this contraption can shoot?

  • +3

"Exquisite and Cool design Made of Classy plastic"

    lol

  • Is the flight stable enough to take good video or am I in for a nauseating experience?
Is this ok for outdoor use?

  • Whats with all these IR Helicopter. what happened to RF that doesnt require line of sight and has a much better range.

    • +1

They're around, but will cost more.

  • What is the "3.5"? Looks like a normal 3-channel to me.
Does video on/off count as the 0.5?

It has a microphone. Anyone want to guess what the recording will sound like?

  • +1 for the camera…invariably in any RC heli post/forum someone has asked about attaching a camera, and the solutions are always convoluted at best…for ~$10-15 extra the problem is solved!

You can now spy on your hot neighbour/housemate for the low, low price of ~$42 AUD!!! :D

    • This is creepy.

I like that this new variant of helicopter is out and at such a low price, however, I cannot see the value of having the camera on this unit.

If spying is your game :

    1) It is far from Stealthy. The hot neighbour is probably going to wonder why there is a buzz saw outside her window.

    2) It needs line of sight. So the hot neighbour is probably going to watch you watch over her. Cue SilverChair.

    3) It has Bright Blue and Red LEDs. The hot neighbour is probably going to wonder why there police ourtside her window.

    4) This unit is not capable of flying in sun light as it interferes with the IR control, nor outdoors where there is wind. So you are just as likely to strafe her FATHER's window.

That pretty much leaves a purpose confined to your house where the subjects don't care being watched .

Having said that…I REALLY enjoyed Lightake's previous offering of the F103. So much so that I've already bought a bigger RC Heli.

Some of you guys really have no sense of humour…you do realise that was a joke, don't you?

    • Sure we've got a sense of humour, but given this can only fly indoors, how many videos do I really need to take of my living room floor ?

I'd put the money towards another or bigger chopper, or spares to keep my existing F103 in the air (plenty available on fleabay, thankfully)

      • +1

Nope, bugger all sense of humour around here nowadays…your comment and the one previous outlining all the crap info we already know about these choppers is living proof that OzB'ers are getting duller! ;)

FWIW, how many times can you even fly around your living room with the F103 before that gets boring? Sure, repetitive stuff is fun if you're 12; but when you're a grown-up it gets real old, real quick - camera or none! Mine's already been given to an adolescent family member for proper torture! :p

  • IR+indoor only+cheap cam=grainy movies of your ugly mug, or if you have good eye/hand co-ordination, the backside of your slow dog/cat!
i've got the syma s107, i think if you found and stripped out the light camera like one of those spy cams in a lighter or remote floating around the 'bay you could achieve something similar

    • Thank you for your suggestion.

I will talk to Syma company :)

  • I thought this deal would be popular and get many ++ votes

    :( :( :(

    • This is what you get when you dare to dream.

      • No, this is what you get when you let a bunch of whingers loose on computers! :p

    • +1

These toys have been around for a while.
The only question is do people think adding a camera to an indoor heli is worthwhile. I think you have the answer.

Its one of those things that sounds cool at first.
