2130

Greetings everyone, just spotted that this game is now free for the next 8 days and looks like a good freebie :)

Link - Unfortunately, there was a technical issue with the original game that could only be fixed by re-releasing Downwell as a new app on Google Play. In appreciation of our players we are making Downwell free for a limited time. You will be able to download Downwell for free starting on September 20th at 12:00AM GMT. Downwell will be available for free until September 27th, 23:59PM GMT.

Downwell is a curious game about a young boy venturing down a well in search of untold treasures with only his Gunboots to protect him. Make your way further and further down into the darkness filled with nasty creatures and mysterious secrets to collect the spectacular red gems scattered about the rocks. Step into precariously placed shops and buy some helpful items or level up between levels to battle well-dwelling monsters and uncover hidden caves filled with riches and relics. No two trips down the well are ever the same!

Simple, Responsive Controls - Designed for mobile from the ground up, Downwell is presented with intuitive and elegant controls that allow for action-packed gameplay using just three buttons.

The Amazing Gunboots - The fashionable and lethal Gunboots allow players to unleash a torrent of firepower on the nasty creatures dwelling in the well and slow your decent with each shot.

Unique Weapons & Items - Get different weapons, shop for peculiar items and obtain powerful upgrades that all stack and affect the way you play!

A New Adventure Every Time - Each level in Downwell is procedurally generated, so no two trips down the well are ever the same providing a fresh new adventure each time!

As always, enjoy!

  • +1

    100+ Installs!

    • is that good or bad ?

      • Neither; just an observation. Could be related to what it says in the OP 'technical issue with the original game that could only be fixed by re-releasing Downwell as a new app on Google Play'.

    • hmmm that's weird, I got this years ago so I'm sure there is a lot more than 100 downloads! Either way, it's a really fun game :)

*I may have got it from an Humble Bundle years ago?

      • Pretty sure I've got a PC copy for free, so that might explain it

    • +7

It was only re-released a few days ago as per the note in the OP, that's why it's showing as 100+ installs lol.

  • Free to keep if installed before the 27th or free to play until the 27th?

    • +1

Free to keep if installed before 10AM (I believe) on the 28th of September.

      • Install, Titanium Backup, archive to play later.

        • +3

Once you install it, it’s in your play account forever. You can reinstall it on any android device any time can’t you?

  • Can this be used offline? I need some games for the train.

    • +2

It can, yes. Great option for the train.

  • Nintendo hired the creator of this game!

  • Played this on PC rather than Android so I can't comment on the controls, but the game itself is simple and awesome.

  • Fantastic game, was addicted to this for a good couple months.

  • Seems pretty fun, worth having a spin with

  • This is a great game, the mechanics are perfect for a quick game on the go

    Installed, played, uninstalled.
Sorry, but is this like a 80s era game??
It's simple graphics , sure is a thing in history, but prob not so much now

    • sure is a thing in history, but prob not so much now

Uh, you haven't heard of pixel graphics/pixel art? Just search on Steam for the tag "pixel graphics" and you'll see tonnes of games. And, yes, heaps are current and extremely popular titles. Just off the top of my head: Stardew Valley, Terraria, Binding of Isaac series. There's also a huge retro gaming-style thing where games have similar play-styles to 80's/90's games. So, yeah, they're a thing.

    • lol wat. Have you played a game in the last 10 years?

      • -1

        Yeh…sure.
So this is the type of games that Geeks play?
I must be in the category of rich mum and dad kids which only plays modern graphic games

        • lol what are you talking about

  • I have this on Vita. not sure how touch controls are gonna go, but nice to olay it in portrait
