Organic Honey, Where to Buy from Farmer in Melbourne?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knows a reputable honey farmer that sells directly to a consumer? I am looking to buy organic direct from a farmer.

Thanks in advance

    Farmers Markets.

  • I’m in qld and I found the best ones on Facebook market place. Even the ones in the local fruit store weren’t as good. Farmers market has some good one but cost more

Most smaller-scale beekeepers won't have anything to take to farmers markets, it's the wrong time of year to be harvesting honey. The bees will have only just started building their stores back up after winter

It is quite difficult to get certified organic honey due to the stict requirements. One of them is the hives must NOT be within a 5km radius of pollution sources which may include farms that use herbicides or pesticides. https://aco.net.au/Pages/Certification/BeeKeeping.aspx

I've seen honey sold my local shop (Northern Beaches, Sydney) as raw and organic and the hives were in the Northern Beaches. Based on the 5km radius rule alone, it is impossible to get organic honey here.

Also, the "Australian" honey may not be Australian: https://austorganic.com/faq-organic-honey/

    • "Organic" honey is BS in most cases.

      • I think I made that point.

        • Indeed you did MrBear but you forgot /threadclosed

  • The Eggsperts comes to my mind. the QVM website says that they sell organic honey. you may also check the QVM Organics page to find more stalls
