Being Offered a Saving on Order if I Join eBay Plus?

Hi, I was debating on making a purchase on an eBay Plus item when I noticed it said at the checkout, "Save $20 on this eBay Plus order" with a button to "Join eBay Plus now" (direct link to join for $49 a year, no 30-day trial offered). The item is only $30 and already has free shipping.

Do you think I would still get the $20 off the order if I started the trial and came back to the checkout, or do you think that the $20 is offered only if I buy a Plus subscription immediately (forgoing the trial, which would only then be giving me a discount on the subscription)?

    Based on personal experience:

Do you think I would still get the $20 off the order if I started the trial and came back to the checkout,

    No.

do you think that the $20 is offered only if I buy a Plus subscription immediately (forgoing the trial,

    Yes.

You can either get the $20 off immediately & waive the free-trail period, OR get the sub with the free trial, but no $20 off.

    • I always wondered the same, good to know that it was just a stupid eBay scam I didn't fall for.

    • Thanks! Really appreciate the info as I couldn't find a clarification anywhere.

    • Based on personal experience YES it works like that, you click on the link to 'save $20 on this plus order' and it took me to a page that said I get 30 day free trial, after signing up for the free trial it gave me a code (just like blamesociety below) which gave me $20 off and I have a 30 day free trial which I just have to cancel before it finishes and I just got a $26 item for $6.

I wonder if you used this $20 signup bonus then threatened to cancel and got the other $20 bonus for keeping eBay + haha $9 but still probs not worth unless we get more $20 sales. Even then, new account + trial

  • Just saw the same message on my expired Plus account (and cancelled way too early before the $20 coupons came around) but can't figure out how this works? After paying the renewal for full price $49, does it then automatically deduct $20 off the item at checkout?

All good. Clarified with chat i would need to renew my account first. Renewed account, then a popup came up straight away with a $20 coupon code to use within 2 days on "my first eBay Plus order" - a bit short but ok.

  • I received this $20 offer for a $39 eBay Plus item with free shipping. I clarified on the chat that if I sign up for the free trial, do I get the $20 immediately. She wasn't sure so I signed up with her on the chat, and it immediately gave me a $20 voucher valid for 2 days. I used the voucher on my order straight away. She also confirmed that I still would not be charged for the membership until the 30th day and if I don't want to be charged, I need to cancel before then.
