AMEX Velocity card from long ago, how to spend points?

Hey guys,

So I have got an Amex thanks to this site near a decade ago, I only have about 45,000 points or so over the years.
I used to have a URL which you could see what you could buy with the points, IIRC I was always eying the closest thing to cash, the BP fuel cards of $50 value, 9,000 points per card.

That being said,……………..

That URL is dead AND I never ever did figure out how to actually 'redeem' my points? I never linked my AMEX card to a velocity account (shrug?) and I just tried and I still don't know how.

My Amex card I can see here.

https://global.americanexpress.com/dashboard

The OLD URL which seems dead, is here

https://shop.velocityfrequentflyer.com/Award?KeyWords=&PointsOptions=PointsRange&MinimumPoints=0&MaximumPoints=10000&cm_re=Home--AUSB2--Fantastic%20Rewards

What can I do, with 42,000 points. (I'm asking because I just got an email to get another 5k for another card, but I don't know if it's worth it)

EDIT:

THANKS FOR HELP
The account was 'broken' and Velocity team had to finalise it, it was never fully made so at least I was right on that? :/

  • I have NO IDEA what my Velocity number is…

    • If you have an Amex Velocity card, wouldn't your Velocity number be on the front of your card, underneath the cardholder's name (unless you have a supplementary card, in which case it isn't)?

Source: Have an Amex Velocity card

      • Is my velocity number the same as the credit card number … ? That's the only # on front?

        • Is there nothing underneath your name like this card?

Sounds like you don't have a Velocity Amex card then and probably transferring points from another membership program …

          • @kerfuffle: No.

            It's 100% a velocity amex

That card, but lacking that number.

I get points for example if people sign up with my referral link.

            • @hamwhisperer: Do you get e-mailed statements from Velocity about your points balance every month?

                • @hamwhisperer: I was referring more to these statements

Out of curiosity, when you signed up for the Velocity Amex, did you actually have a Velocity account at the time?

                  • @kerfuffle: Nope, no velocity account, made one today.

                    Never seen that statement beore!

                    • @hamwhisperer: Weird. I’d be having a chat to Amex about this otherwise your 42K points are in limbo …

                      • @kerfuffle: I've made an account on the velocity rewards site, manually but I don't know how to link them, I guess I'll call

Hey do you have the newer link for the rewards?

                        • @hamwhisperer: Nope, sorry; I login via Velocity to go to the Rewards store.

                          • @kerfuffle: I manually made an account but I still can't see the store, can you chuck me the url?

                            • @hamwhisperer: The URL requires a login. Since you have a Velocity account, you can access it yourself. It's under Shopping Online, then Shop Using Points …

                              • +1

@kerfuffle: Got it all fixed, required phone calls, apparently account was never fully completed - frequent occurance with AMEX linked accounts.

Getting my first card mailed to me - now to sell the points / redeem

    • You can ask Amex through the message portal or call them. They will have your velocity number on file.

  • Look on the last page of your Amex statement.
It will state how many points you earned for the month and the program name your points are being transferred to.
If the points are being transferred to a Velocity account it will state the Velocity account number.

  • Sell it on classifieds for 1.2c/pp

    • +3

He can't sell them if he doesn't know how to access his account 😛

    • Is that $504 worth? Would I really get that?

        • Ok I need to get all up in this, I'm broke as hell

        • I now have access to my account, how do I 'send' them to someone?
