You can search where you want to go but can't search what's the best deal for accommodation? Get your lazy @$$ up and start working!!

      • But I am le tired?

  • Thank you i have already looked for on booking, airbnb, and other comparative website.
But everytime is the same : for 5 days, a normal room cost $700-$800 in hotel or hostel …
In airbnb, the price is the same. I found some room but very far from the city, and honestly, i'm tired to walk in the dark trying to find a path for pedestrian with my torch of my iphone :p

Could it be that that's how much accommodation in Sydney costs?

Most people understand that you have to pay for convenience.

    • Hi,
It would really help to understand your budget and dates? Try hostel world.

Sydney is expensive. That's just what it is.

Try a facebook page like "backpackers in sydney" or something. Maybe someone in a sharehouse is travelling and you can crash there.

  • There's Parramatta, cheaper than Sydney if you don't mind the train ride.

  • Facebook. If you are a backpacker, you will easily find a room or even a bed for $200/ week or less and right innthe cbd or around. Good luck

    • I tried when i set in Brisbane but i was so tired about because there were lot of bad room and some scam …

  • All depends on what you are after.

    Free
    - Couch surfing
    Cheapest
    - AirBnB
    Cheaper
    - Hostels
    - expedia.com.au/mastercard for 11% off

Not sure on cost of public transport but potential to stay out of the city right next to a train station where you will be in the city faster than if you were staying on the other side.

    • thank you :)
Airbnb it's pretty expensive when you're looking for something in the city :(

  • DFO

  • I recommend Studio 8 in Ryde. It has a nice sized shopping centre next to it with cinemas. Its really apartments so you can save money with meals if you are pov. Nice roof top common area. Bus to city or bus then train to city or bus then ferry to city. Booking with a code on cheaptickets is usually cheaper. They have slightly cheaper single rooms.

For the city the travelodges are pretty good value, I think.

just line up in front of Apple store, say u are lining up for iphone 12

    pitch a tent, free WiFi
maccas next door (use the app)

u prolly get a few interviews and make money out of it

  • If you want near the city then try AirBnB around Erskineville / Newtown / Darlington. A nice room in someones house with a share bathroom runs as low as $80/night. That's cheap when you consider rents on a 12 month lease are $50-$100/night per bedroom.

You are only 10 minutes train ride from the city in that area.

Sydney is expensive. As a tourist I'd budget $200/day if you want to experience the place properly.

      thank you !!
But in Australia, when you are a little far from the city, it's impossible to move at the night without cars :(

      • +2

I get home fine at night without a car and I live 30km from the city :| It's called public transport. I live in Sydney, by the way - the same city you want to visit.

Either pay more to stay closer to the city or pay less and stay further away from the city.

Erko, Newtown, Darlington, Redfern, Waterloo, Zetland, Crows Nest, Nuetral Bay - any of that band in a 5km radius around the Sydney GPO are well serviced by either rail or bus transport, or both. Have you bothered to check a map?

I go out at night all the time and public transport serves me well.

If you can't make it work for you then maybe Sydney isn't a good place for you to visit.

      • Sydney has taxis, uber, ola, bolt, etc. So calling it impossible to move at night is a stretch.

And it also has LIME e bikes XD

  • $700 for 5 nights in a Sydney hotel is cheap.
Obviously you need it to be cheaper.
Its easy to search, Im thinking you need help with that.
    I'll tell you the basics.

Go to www.hotelscombined.com.au, they have an app if you want to do it on the phone.
Search Sydney with your dates, when the results are displayed sort them by price.
Go through the list one by one.

If you want to search an area do it on the map and hover over the blue dots to see prices.

I had a look for you on random dates in November
The cheapest private room was at Iguana Lodge in Potts Point, an easy walk to the city.
It was $65 a night with a private bathroom. Its a backpackers and it looks like a total dump.

To check out how good or bad it really is search the hotel on tripadvisor.

Just keep working through the search results until you find somewhere at price you can afford and with reviews you are happy with.

A better option for you might be a private room with shared bathroom at Glebe Point YHA. Some backpackers dont allow Australian to stay, YHA dont discriminate.
Glebe is a good spot, walkable to city, good public transport, supermarkets so you can do your own cooking and close to Sydney Uni.

      thank you :)
I think $700 it's pretty expensive, that make 400€. In France, you have a really good hotel with everyservice, and in some countries like spain or portugal, you have 4 stars hotel :p

      • +1

No need to compare as you are not in those countries. Compare to Hongkong, Tokyo etc. Sydney seems reasonable. Look at your options and select the one that you are most comfortable with. You can't have them all & will have to sacrifice some convenience.

      • Not in Paris you won't… Its about same as Sydney

        • -1

Paris, you can, i live in paris :)
An hotel cost 50€ by night but it's the strict minimum.
or a bad hotel for 30€
and for 400€ you have a really good hotel

  • Maybe capsule hotel Sydney? Going rate from $42/ night. Location Level 3, 640 George St Sydney NSW 2000
