Replacing HP Laptop Touch Screen Digitizer with a Non Touch Screen. Is It Doable?

Hi all,

Dropped my HP ProBook 430 G4 13.3in and the outer screen cracked (not the LCD). Its a touchscreen laptop, but I never use this feature. Seems the outer layer touch screen (digitizer??) isn't cheap. Is it possible to replace it with a standard non touch screen layer?

Cheers

  • If you are junking the screen anyway, you could try separating the touchscreen portion from the lcd. Success will depend on the type and how it has been bonded. Sometimes it's just two-sided tape around a metal frame bezel. Back everything up before as you might lunch the LCD as well trying…but yes, there is a free OzBargain solution tryable. If that fails just use it with HDMI out and save your money for a new computer.

    • Yeah I'll set it up mirrored to HDMI before I start. Good tip. I guess any 13.3 screen should do the job purely as a LCD protector. Double sided tape holding it behind the bezel, cheers.
