Amazon (US) have the digital download version of Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War II Retribution for 7.49USD ($7AU due to our strong dollar)

I can confirm the game activates on Steam with no problems at all and no VPN or proxy is needed.

NOTE: You must enter a fake US address on the billing section to buy, feel free to still keep your real phone number or address, just the State, country and zip code need to be American (just use 90210 CA)

    I imagine it's a steam key, that you buy form Amazon. So downloads from steam.

    You can do either. But i'm just downloading in Steam because i wanted to see if the key activated.

    Amazons download will act as if you have a the DVD and that will install to Steam (since it's a Steamworks game)

  Did you create a whole new account for it, or did you use your normal amazon account and just temporarily change the billing info?

    I used my Amazon UK account, you can have more than one billing address on file for each CC. So you can switch between a fake US address and your real one.

      Got it. It took a couple tries for it to accept my US billing address and to go through; then when I checked my account details it had added the address half a dozen times (think it's a glitch in their system)… so for anyone else… just keep trying.

    Nope just Retribution. The game is a Standalone expansion and doesn't require the other two Dawn of War 2 games to play.

        Its a standalone expansion, it does not carry over from previous games. If you want content from the first/2nd game, I suggest you buy that instead.

        The only content you will be losing is single player content, multiplayer "should" be the same. I think you can buy the first 2 games for under $20 from Amazon or import them from 365games/ozgameshop for even less.

  For anyone curious when the daily deals roundup sale on steam started today DOW Retribution was on sale for 75% off instead of the intended 50% off and I guess Amazon price matched them before they corrected it :)

    Ok, worked it out.

    After you purchase it, Amazon asked if you want to download it now or later. Click later and it'll send you an email with a link to "Your Games and Software Library".

    "Your Games and Software Library" lists all downloadable games you've bought from Amazon, which if this is your first time like me, is one.

    Then under the game is a "show serial" button. Click that and copy it. Open steam and "activate a product on steam". Done.

  I've just downloaded it on a website,but it said there are some mistakes in installing. If I buy this one, will there have the same mistakes?

    Take the CD key from whatever website you bought it from then go into Steam (download it of you don't have it) and down the bottom of Steam click on "Add a Game" then "Activate a product on Steam" and enter the CD key. It will register the game to your Steam account, then use Steam to download it.

    All the installer on the disc/whatever you downloaded does is install Steam for you and then attempt to copy the cache from the CD/download files onto Steam. If those files are corrupt or something you will encounter an error, it's much easier to just download it direct from Steam, smaller download too! (since it only downloads the language you have Steam set to rather than all languages)

    This game is a Steamworks game which means no matter where you buy it all you are going to get is a CD Key and the Steam cache files, so just toss the CD or whatever you got and do the direct key method as I have described above. :)

  Noooo I bought this for $20 as a gift by a US friend, on Steam, a couple days ago :(

  Wish I saw this deal sooner.
