eBay Return Request and Return Shipping Label

Hi OZB,

I'm in the process of returning and item that arrived damaged. The recent 1tb SSD T5.

The return request was automatically accepted and I've been asked to return it by the 2nd of October. Do I now wait for a return shipping label or am I expected to pay for it myself? The return policy states free returns.

I'll be contacting eBay tomorrow for further details, but figured I'd look for some insight here too.

Thanks Ozb.

If its an eBay Plus purchase, you can go through and generate the postage label for free.
Otherwise, the seller will send you one.

    • Great, thank you. This was exactly what I was looking for.

The return details aren't exactly straight forward, I was worried I'd be out of pocket with a damaged on arrival situation.

Will be my first time retuning any purchase (or posting anything that wasn't a letter as a matter of fact), so the process is new on me.

      • I’m pretty sure if an item arrives faulty then the seller has to pay for return post no matter what.

        • Yeah, this was the case. eBay have informed me that if the seller doesn't contact me by said date, they'll send me a return label themselves.

The seller did respond, but haven't done so with a return label as of yet. They informed me they can't offer a replacement, but are happy to refund me, so all should be good by the end of the process.

          • @Frayin: That’s nice to hear :) Well If eBay send it to you themselves, the seller has to pay them back either way the seller loses.

Have to admit the ParcelPoint drop off thing which eBay Plus used when I had to return something (and Amazon uses it too) was so convenient especially as there was a nearby chemist open until 9pm where I could drop things off! So much better than our local post office which is only open M-F 9-5.
