Yes it does, the whole point of the package is to bundle the physical version with the online membership.

Bit of a pain that a cartridge is needed. One of the things that I enjoy about tetris 99 is that it is a great game to play before turning off the switch. I'd much rather this be a twelve month deal with bonus DLC code.
Exactly. It's not like Tetris has any resale value, it appears to be multiplayer only. So there is no benefit to the whole thing not being digital.
Doesn't seem like a deal tbh. If tetris 99 is always free with online membership (according to comment above), how much is the DLC? Because I'm wagering that it's cheaper to buy DLC plus online membership with 10% off eshop cards.

What is in the Tetris 99 DLC anyway?
It includes extra game modes, CPU battle, Local battle, marathon mode. Also every day there are 4 daily missions that earn you tokens. 2 of the missions require the DLC.
You can buy themes with the tokens.
Then there's extra icons to collect that require the DLC to complete.
Best to buy it from eShop and join a family membership.
erm isn't Tetris 99 included with Switch online already? the title makes it seem like you get it for free as a bonus
