Comvita UMF 15+ Manuka Honey 250g (Not Available in WA) $49.95 (RRP $131.95) @ Chemist Warehouse

160

Better than 1/2 price - $82 saving off RRP.

I buy the UMF 10 in the Comvita brand as it's usually a significant price jump for the UMF 15 - I've not seen it <$60 previously.

UMF ratings

UMF 0 = undetectable Manuka activity – no medicinal use
UMF 5 = low grade of Manuka activity – not recommended for medicinal use
UMF 10 = maintenance level of Manuka activity – ideal for better immunity and increased vitality
UMF 15 = useful level of Manuka activity – ideal for high antibacterial benefits
UMF 20 = superior level of Manuka activity – ideal for specific medicinal use

  • NOTE: Due to state laws, this product will not be supplied to customers in Western Australia.

    why??

    • Coz they got thir own manuka there?

Biosecurity laws, like how you can't bring fresh fruits or plants interstate (e.g. in SA, QLD), you can't bring honey or other bee products into WA. There are some pests like small hive beetle that are in other parts of Australia but mostly absent in WA. Same rules apply to international arrivals (some bee products from overseas could be brought into NSW etc. but the same items wouldn't be allowed in WA)

  • Medicinal use = applied topically.

can get a better antimicrobial for $10 at chemist warehouse

i really hope people realise the only benefits of this is as a wound dressing adjunct. No clinically proven benefit of ingesting it, other than, if you ingest enough, type 2 diabetes (which i wouldn't consider a benefit)

crazy prices now. I remember about 6-7 years ago I could buy the Comvita UMF +18 (250g) for $35bucks, on special and the UMF +10 (500gram) was cheap too, under $20. It has now gone way above what I am willing to pay.

If NZ succeed in the "Manuka" trademark I can see this becoming like real liquid gold!

  • Is it better than MGO250 500g one from Costco for $39 ?
