I know at OZBargains everyone loves their hard drives……
I've been hunting around for a low priced 640GB/750GB SATA drive for a PS3 internal upgrade. MSY are out of stock in SA (750GB) and the others on static ice that would deliver are $30-$50 more than recent specials when shipping is taken into account.
Any suggestions?
EDIT: just discovered a 1TB SATA drive which fits a PS3..would be interested in that too.

Lol trance n dance you fail… all standard 2.5" notebook sata hard drives will fit in a Ps3, unless if its limited by software. Just because the hard drive has a bigger capacity doesn't mean it's going to be physically bigger.

The PS3 will only accept (without modification to the hdd tray/bay) 9.5mm high drives, whereas most drives bigger than 500GB in capacity will be using the 12.5mm standard, but there are 640GB and 1TB drives that come in the 9mm flavour but they're rarer and more expensive, so far I haven't found one here in AUS.
From the PS network it appears that providing the drive is within the specs for a 2.5 laptop drive with SATA then it should be fine. Note the only issues are where the height exceeds 9.5mm (and even then a 1TB drive has been installed in a PS3 slim without the frame).

And BTW I've looked for some 640/750gb hard drives and had no luck finding any good deals.

I don't think 750GB hdd will fit in the PS3, nor will most 640GB. The only ones with a guarantee fit are the 500GB ones.
