I just brought the premium merlo - $27million down to just $370. BARGAIN. Can't believe how those non ozbargainers pay full price. Boy are they dumb. Gotta go-somebodies offering to sell the harbour Bridge on ebay and I don't want to miss out.

Ignoring the fact that nobody would pay the prices quoted I think this is actually a pretty good deal averaging out at a little over $20/bottle for some premium wines.

That was pretty much what I was hoping for Angelino. I'm glad you saw the bigger picture. Each of these wines are great, I have had them often.

Then price it that way. Labelling it as "74% off" is click bait by your own admission.

        • Persian rug dealers offer a similar 74% believable discount, would be unbelievable if it was 75% ;)

I think closer to $150 is fair value for this pack. Many of these wines aren't what I would call 'premium' and are often available at substantial discounts.

Please tell me where I can buy a dozen of these wines for $150. I think if you make a statement like that you should have some evidence.
Just checked Dan Murphy. They have the Martin's vineyard Limited Release 2016 Shiraz at $100/bottle.

All Curtis wines are ridicously overpriced. They just rename them every couple of years and throw them out there again. The Martin's vineyard is still a Curtis wine.

They're not bad, I've been buying from Wine Direct for years and am quite happy. But they send out weekly 70-80% sales. If you think the Martin's is good value you can get 3 bottles of it in this pack for $189 - https://www.winedirect.com.au/holy-shiraz-our-bestest-shiraz… - only thing different is they've switched out the not-bad kilikanoon for the basic Curtis.

For reference, Martin's 2016 was recently on DM's secret selection at $34.90 ea (not including CB and GC). Given this is by far the highest RRP wine offered, it doesn't bode well for the value of the rest.

          • @SleepyPolarBear: Bodes quite reasonably actually even if you can get them at $35 each. If you're getting 3 bottles at that price it makes the average price of the other bottles about $18 each. If you can find them at that price good luck to you.
Sorry, no idea what CB and GC are.

  • DrR knows best :)

  • The law regarding advertising discounts against RRP is quite clear. If OzBers accept garbage like the (74% off RRP) claim above we'll be inundated with tyre price "deals".

    What are misleading prices?
    Misleading prices may include:

-a ‘before’, ‘was’ or ‘strike through’ price that is not the price those items were sold for in a reasonable period immediately before the sale period started
-a ‘before’, ‘was’ or ‘strike through’ price where only a limited proportion of sales were at the higher price in a reasonable period immediately before the sale period started
-a comparison between ‘cost/wholesale’ and ‘sale’ prices if the ‘cost/wholesale’ price is greater than what the business paid for the products
-a price comparison with a competitor’s price for identical goods, but the stated price is taken from a different market or geographical location
-‘savings’ or ‘discount’ statements when compared to the recommended retail price (RRP), but the goods have never been sold at the RRP or the RRP does not reflect a current market price.

    • Can you pass that on to all the major supermarket chains 50 % off specials .

      • Do they not conform? Possibly at times but from my experience most supermarket specials are off their normal price. Still caveat emptor applies because even at the discount price it doesn't mean an item can't be purchased cheaper elsewhere. Convenience, time, travel etc all have to be weighed up - obviously.
