Aussie Broadband to float an IPO

I wonder if this may be behind a lot of their recent offers, in an attempt to boost subscriber numbers? That would make an IPO much more attractive to investors with higher numbers.

If it helps them maintain their great service on uncongested network, then great. Not the cheapest provider, but consistently one of the best with no slowdowns and great customer service.

    • Agreed. They claim the IPO won't affect their business model, but I'll be keen to watch what happens.

won't be long before the call centre is based overseas.
for the benefit of the shareholders

        • Maybe?

Britt talked up the company's current strategy and denied suggestions that an IPO could lead to offshoring.
“Investors have decided to support us for good reason,” he said. “We have an award-winning model that includes 100% Australian-based support and a premium network experience. None of that will change.

“We will not be taking anything offshore – our regional based operation and automation software gives us similar cost metrics to offshore.

“Aussie Broadband has consistently shown that we can change the telco game in Australia over the last three years; it’s a philosophy that we bring to everything we do, and listing will be no different. We’re after investors who are enrolled in changing the game as well.”

@EightImmortals: Yeah, that's what is being said now. When it eventually happens it will be along the lines of 'times change, we need to compete, we're struggling' etc etc.

Phil Britt is saying nothing will chagne unless the leadership changes and he has no plans to go anywhere at this stage. If their service remains or improves I wont be going anywhere either. Might get some of the IPO though for the day when it does become a takeover target> :)

Similar strategy to Amaysim. Boy did they go downhill after listing.

IMHO listing will mean bean counter driven with customer care incidental

  • Hmm just reading up on Iinet just as a comparison. They listed in 1999, delisted in 2015 when TPG were about to take over.

I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that being listed made no difference to Iinet over that time.

    • Support line wait time blew out, tho ops made all the right sounds and continued to be polite, actual actions were not much chop for me as ongoing problem still exists (of course maybe it is simply beyond their control).

EDIT - sorry that is the TPG change…………..agree with your comment now my brain is engaged

Lol was gonna say! The 2000s were when Iinet was top of the CS charts. Everyone jumped ship after the TPG takeover
