Any deals on anywhere for the iPhone 8 64gb? Cheers and Thanks

    • +2

      Just checked it’s $779 everywhere.

      • -2

Goodguys, JB and Harvey’s all showing as sold out

        • +1

Go to Apple store then: https://www.apple.com/au/shop/buy-iphone/iphone-8
If you can wait I think prices will drop for iPhone 8 in 6-12 months.

          • +1

@thebadmachine: There might be a deal for the 8 during Black Friday Sale (Nov 29) but Apple don't usually discount much during that weekend

            • @LikeMike: It’s possible some stores will take advantage of Black Friday.
But due to the razor thin margins on Apple products, usually price drops coincide with either Apple themselves reducing the price on their website / in-store, or removing it from the product line.

If I was after a 4.7” I’d pay the extra $250 for a new 8 128gb or wait for a sale or try GT used. The only Telstra blue tick iPhone. Will last longer too.

    • +2

What does blue tick actually mean? Surely iphone reception/bands haven’t decreased since the iPhone 8 was released?

      • Better reception in rural areas

  • +11

That’s a lot of money for a phone that’s more than 3 years old.

    • Yup it’s long in the tooth, worried about iOS update support so passing on this one.
It’s a pity because I think performance wise it’s fine, and it’s the last of the ‘lighter weight’ aluminium back models.

      • +3

I have a 7, it seems pretty fast and all you need until you do the same thing comparing with an XS or 11.
The 7 still does pretty well compared with many newish phones on benchmarks too.

        • +1

Yes I agree, it seems the extra ‘horse-power’ of all new models are mostly for bragging-rights.
For common smart-phone duties there really is little advantage to be had.
If anything I can imagine a 0.5 second advantage when exporting an edited photo (maybe a bit more for exporting an edited video etc).

        • -3

I have the 8 as work phone and for my money I wouldn't even buy the 8 at this price point, let alone a 7.
Biggest issue for me was the tiny, low quality screen.

          • @keejoonc: I’m hoping Apple releases another SE with a smaller screen.
If I want a larger screen the iPad or a laptop is better, and I would rather have a less obtrusive phone.

            • @entropysbane: Bit of a stretch going from phones with 6 inch screen to iPad or laptop? Lol

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of massive screen either but iPhone 8 screen is far too small still.

Not only that, quality of that screen is horrendous.

Saw this the other day - Galaxy S8 is $899 at TGG. Wtf
      https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/samsung-galaxy-s8---black-109…

  • +1

Still the best iPhone. Every phone released since is heavier, and the iPhone 8 even has a smaller battery. Light and easy to hold, and still super fast on iOS 13. Also has Touch ID and 3D Touch, both great features that Apple has killed off.

    • Nice logic , for me would be going near it with Iphone11's after codes below 1k .

  • +1

    Garry Norman. Lol.

  • -4

Are they still selling an iPhone7???

    • -1

TGG are selling Samsung Galaxy 8’s for $899 which came out only 6 month after the iPhone 7.

    Wow… Just… Wow [owen.wilson]

For those interested it stacks with this offer - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/485917

    So a "free" iPhone 7 32GB wth a $65 a month plan for 12 months.

    • That’s a pretty good combo

    • +1

      I would expect a free iPhone 7 & a 1 dollar coin as well.

  • Nice deal

  • +1

Looks like this might be the normal price after the release of the new iPhone lineups

  • +3

Sure you pay a premium for apple products, but to be fair the 7 is a great phone. Processor still holds it own even against the galaxy s9, build quality is excellent and with the recent ios13 release the phone feels more responsive than ever (dark mode is awesome too…. finally)

Paid $1088 & got trs back 2 & half years ago, be lucky to get $350 if I resell it now, how anyone considers this a deal at $599 is beyond me & the 32gb model is just a joke keep well away from that, if it was iPhone 8 yeah but not for 7 when it’s up to 21 in the cycle, does the job if you still own one but to old to be paying $599, if your looking for old tech should be buying a quality used one, look on fb store i7 $300's, i8 for $400s,-$500s X $600-$800s

    • +1

This is your opinion and I don’t believe any points you’ve made constitute the down vote.

    • -1

I also traded in an iPhone 6 for $250 and got a new iPhone 7 two-years ago for my mother.
Has been a solid phone and is definitely well worth keeping if you already own one.
Buying the iPhone 7 new in 2019 (as an upgrade) is a bit-of-a-stretch in my opinion as well, but again people can make their own decisions & do as they wish with their money.

      • -2

I7, i8, Xr, 11 it’s to far back in the cycle now, like posting a tv deal that 4 generations old, I just don’t see any good value at that price it’s more a Rrp now that the 11 is released & 32gb shouldn’t even be sold anymore, don’t worry the Apple “is never overpriced” cheer squad will remove the neg

        • You're comparing apples to oranges mate, Apple products hold their value where as television technology, not so much.

  • All the rave about this phone…. It's easy to forget this is the phone which started the removal of headphone jack in smartphones.

    • -2

It has and adapter included and you still can use the earphone so what's the problem?

      • -1

You lose one port so charging and using the headphones is not possible unless you buy a 3rd party dongle.

If Apple is truly for digital, then replace headphone jack with another lightning port. Two digital ports, not remove it and add a dongle. My Macbook Pro is really a Donglebook (another example of Apple heavily reduced the total number of ports (from 7 to 2 on a laptop (not counting the headphone jack) and even if you pay more, at most you get 4)).

We pay premium for Apple products and it doesn't feel good to pay more and get less. It's like being screwed twice.

        • -2

          Keep surfing buddy.

    • +1

to be fair, once I made the transition to a quality set of bluetooth earphones I've never missed the 3.5mm jack since.

      • -1

It adds to the cost. My experience with cheaper Bluetooth earphones is quite bad. Apple haven't removed headphone jack on Macbook Pro's. Come on Apple, let's see you remove it on the upcoming 2019 16 inch Macbook Pro.

The question is with Apple Earpods 2 supporting Bluetooth 5, do you think it is a good deal to buy Apple devices supporting Bluetooth 4.2 only?

Anyway, it is fine for people with iPhone 7 to keep using them, but buying iPhone 7 new now isn't a good idea. Neither 32Gb (limited storage) nor 128Gb (too pricey, might as well consider iPhone 8 or better) makes sense.

Everyone of these posts reduces at a war between Apple lovers and Apple haters. Boring.

    • +1

You have to ask yourself why the Apple haters are in here.

  • +1

good deal, my iphone 6 plus 128G is still doing good since new. 76% battery life after so many years.
