Quite a decent price for this unit, considering the older WP100 model is being sold for the same price currently by Chemist Warehouse and Shaver Shop.

Looking at the price history, seems to usually be listed for $145 on Amazon AU.

What are you up to today?

      • +7

Girlfriends birthday today, presents, early morning coffee together, work, going out for dinner, using Waterpik

        • +1

How does it compare to string flossing

          • +1

@acek47: It's fantastic, I found string flossing would often lead to soreness or maybe some gum bleeding. I still string floss about once every week or two to clear out anything depositing on my teeth. But I'll use the waterpik every night.

I saw my dentist this week and he was shocked. "Perfect teeth, making my job too easy."

        • +3

You only use the Waterpik on your girlfriend's birthday?

Avatar is the hand signal for "WP" hmmm

    • Heard that water picks aren't good if you have any cavities, what are you thoughts?

      • Fortunately I've never had cavities or required a filling so I'm unable to comment. I'd definitely advise consulting your dentist.

      • +2

Waterpiks are simply intended for removing plaque and food debris accumulating between the teeth and gums.

If you have active decay the Waterpik will still do the job that it's made for, but you may experience sensitivity/pain from the water coming in contact with the cavities.

        • Do you use a water flosser Kr0nix?

          • +1

@OkayFray: I do, but not this model. I use the cordless advanced pro which takes up less space but has the disadvantage of having to refill the chamber more frequently. Would recommend it though.

    • Does this remove coffee stains on teeth?

      • +1

Shouldn't do, usually some kind of bleaching is required to remove stains. This will dislodge food and buildup from under the gums and between the teeth.

      • +1

They have a whitening version but check the ingredients as it has things like SLS in it.

      • +3

Removing coffee stains is usually easiest using an ultrasonic scaler (the instrument your dentist uses to clean your teeth).

  • Costco has this at $139.99 everyday price. Not sure as to whether or not the ultra is the same model.

    • +1

with costco deal which is an exclusive you also get the nano, so seems better deal if you have costco membership.

      • what's the difference between the nano and ultra?
        Is one the older model?

    • The one at costco is the Ultra, this is the Ultra Professional which is a more expensive model.

Amazon had this model (Ultra Professional) on sale for $100 during the last Prime Day sale.

I have the WP-100 model and it’s great. A little loud to use, but it beats trying to floss with a bit of string or whatever other material they are made with.

    Definitely worth the investment

  • Thanks OP, looks like a decent product however I am looking for a more portable and affordable flosser
I previously used the Panasonic Flosser but it died after few years…

Have anybody used this? Or is there any better alternatives (for a compact model)?

    Thanks

    • +1

I got both waterpik and Panasonic.
      Both working over 4year+
I strong recommend you get one more Panasonic.
Waterpik since years working the pressure became weak and weak. I recon the little hose or somewhere inside block need to clean up.

      • Thanks, may I ask which Panasonic model are you using? Same like mine?
Problem is this one is battery operated and I'd prefer rechargeable version, preferably L-ion.

        • Same with yours.
Well you can put some Eneloop in. I knew it’s bit of pain. But Lion battery won’t last over 3 years.

    • I'm also looking at the compact model you linked as I don't have much space on the bathroom.
Seems like it has good reviews.

I bought this too and can recommend it. Yesterday was the first time I used it. I used a string floss afterwards to check how efficient the water pick was and my teeth were completely clean the floss showed nothing was in the string.
There is another model the 670 but only difference I can see is the buttons and an extra container to keep your extra picks

This model is also much better than the 100 model as it is smaller but taller and has a massage option. Also the 100 has less picks.

I have tried using Kogan branded products in the past and my experience with them has been very bad and I stopped buying anything "kogan" ever since. Stuff that I bought like toothbrush heads etc., all have several 5 star reviews and to be honest it was just wastage of money. In order to avoid disappointment, I would suggest that you read reviews on an external forum and don't trust reviews on Kogan's website.

My friend is a dentist, he recommended this to me before I had purchased. Works really well, and good for people with braces as well.

  • How about the cordless version? thought it's easier to do it under a shower since I heard it can be messy
How this waterpik compared to cheaper product like water jetpik? Thank you

    • Benefit of this model is that there is plenty of water in the container, I always come close to running out each time. I've heard the small ones are annoying because you keep having to refill.

Can be messy at first but after some practice it's not a problem.

Are there any ongoing costs? Filters? Scaling?

    • +1

      Only water and power

      • thanks!

  • Anyone know a cheap site for replacement parts? Ive got a model with the toothbrush and am trying to find reasonably priced replacement brush heads.

  • What settings do you guys use yours? Anything above 8 the bottom of my mouth gets sore (bad technique maybe).

Below 8 I'm not sure if pressure is enough to rid everything.

    • +1

I use mine on an 8, occasionally a 9. Seems right for me and I don't have issues with soreness when going higher.
