New Auspost Reloadable Pre-Paid "Everyday MasterCard" - Transactions Blocked

I'm curious to hear whether anyone has bought one of the new Everyday MasterCard from Australia Post, and whether they're having the same issue as I am.

I had been a user of the old AusPost Load&Go card for many years prior to their demise. As someone whose hobbies quite often had me needing to buy hard to get bits and pieces from random overseas suppliers, I would keep one of these cards handy with a just enough funds loaded. Never had a problem, other than the inevitable, occasional card hack - at which point, I'd just write off the small loss, toss the card, and start again.

So, fast forward to today… no more Load&Go cards, my last one having expired. I read for my shiny new Everyday Mastercard ready and loaded. Three out of three transactions declined. Genuine purchases.. I tried every possible permutation of my personal details, thinking that their fraud detection system may be doing an overly aggressive match - still nothing.

Called their helpdesk and received the rather vague "your transactions were blocked by our fraud system, maybe you should shop elsewhere."

I'm hoping there's someone out there that has encountered the same issue and managed to make it work. Alternatively, are you using a reloadable prepaid card from somewhere else that is working for you?

  • Better keep away from Load&Go cards.

  • I think they ceased 3rd of June 2019. And when they expire that is the end of that card.

I dont think Austrac etc was happy with them

    • Yeah. The last of the Load&Go branded cards have or are close to expiry.

This is the new replacement card branded "Everyday MasterCard"

The Load&Go cards were great… it's weird that whoever is providing this particular card for AusPost has it working very differently.

  • Doesn't everyone now use BitCoin for all these types of dodgy transactions ?

    • Hahaha… nothing that dodgy.

I generally use paypal where ever it's offered.

Ironically, I tried to link this card to my paypal account, it got declined too. :|

  • +1

    Try Revolut

  • I have a similar problem, but with a Suncorp debit Visa and CellOPark app. I assume they will only accept credit Visa and not debit Visa. It maybe that they haven't updated the payment processing system for your particular BIN (first 6 digits of the card number). Probably nothing you can do about it :-(
