Kids (boys) Travel Suitcases/Cabin bag

Hi team,

We will be travelling overseas soon and my 2 boys (7 & 5) want their own kids type suitcases. I've searched online and most of them come up on ebay.

Not sure about their quality so though I'd ask here if someone has any experience/recommendations? I've looked in shopping centres and DFOs here in Melbourne but don't seem to find any.

Any leads/recommendations will be appreciated. Thank you :)

    Give them backpack…

Just buy the business style carry-on smaller suitcases, perfect for kids as it would feel like a full sized luggage to them. https://shop.samsonite.com/luggage/carry-on-luggage/. Any of the "spinners" should do.

Places like strand bags, Kmart, Target, Big W show them when Googled and, from memory, there was a place near the Costco at Docklands that had some kids ones.

    I’d have a few concerns.
    - This is two additional cases you have to cram into the boot of your rental car.
    - when the kids get tired, or bored with them, you will be hauling them.
    - the kids will wander off and leave them “somewhere” just as you are rushing through an airport.

I agree that a couple of “special” backpacks might be better. They also might get some use when not travelling.

^ This. Best advise so far. I guess kids specially 5/7 yrs old are better off with backpacks. They will get bored with suitcases in no time and you'll be dragging their suitcases with your big suitcases at airports…

    • Second this. Another concern is that you have to lift those suitcases into the overhead bins, and you probably don't want to do this. Don't be one of those people that asks for help to load their stuff into the bins. Besides, it's just taking up more room for other people to use.

That's called being a Veronica sister.

  • Just remember to poke some breathing holes.

Not sure what the '(boys)' in the title is for? There's no difference between gender.

  • thanks for all the advices everyone… I'll be getting them their own backpacks…

    cheers :)
