Questions about Major TV Companys

I always wondered why cheap brands like dick smith tv and soniq tv come with built in dvd players while big brands like sony and samsung don't come with dvd players.

Can anyone tell me why this is

  • Cheaper brands might be doing it just to compete

  • Different market.

The big-name brands (Sony, Samsung etc) target customers willing to spend more on their AV gear, therefore more likely to shell out for separate, higher quality components. The cheaper brands (Vivo, Soniq etc) target the lowest end where cost plays a much bigger role, therefore customers are likely to opt for a smaller tv with a built in dvd player since it costs less than buying two separate devices.

This isn't a hard and fast rule though, I've seen a couple larger TVs from mid-tier brands with built in dvd players… no idea why though, can't imagine anyone buying them.

  • You can buy mobile phones from Dealextreme that have a built in electric shaver, it doesn't mean Phillips or Nokia should do this ;)

As mentioned Sony sell high end products, it makes sense for them to sell it separately.

    • mobile phones with electric shaver what happens if it goes off when it in ur pocket

      • your pants start to buzz and people look at you weirdly? :|
