Phone line wires dodgy

Hi guys my nbn speed has been 1/4 speed of what it should be for the last month or so, i've just been told a nbn co tech is coming out on the 10th to investigate.

I jumped up the manhole in my house to try find any damage to phone line and came across this dodgy wiring to a single line.

Does anyone know how much this would cost to get fixed if this is infact the source of the problem? Cheers.

  • Looks like it's already been "fixed".

  • do any of the wires break off when you pull it?
    doesn't look like an issue.
i think it's called star wiring. best to cut it off and connect the incoming wire to the socket you want only. leave third cable.
nbn tech would do it i believe.
it's most likely an outside issue.

That is how the PSTN should look.

    leave it alone

  • Thats quite normal for residential wiring, leave it alone as above. NBN are responsible until the socket into your house. They will correct the wiring pictured if indeed it is an issue. This is assuming you are on FTTN.

I think the bigger issue is those pink rubber gloves you are wearing.. were you doing the dishes at the time?

  • Nice mismatch of colours. Assuming the left cable is the feed in, T&R look good, but from there, do I detect a series connection of sorts? O^O
