McDonalds Shifty Bait and Switch

Recently i went to mc donalds to buy there Family McValue Meal which is only available from 5-7 pm and luckily i bought it just before 7pm but the family Mcvalue Meal was not on display for customer to know but… as soon as it past 7pm bam they put on display the Family Mcvaulue meal but they cant be bought since it after 7pm i saw alot of customers asking for it but the op said sorry it past 7pm.So consumers still felt obligated to buy something since they waited in line for a long time

IS THIS BAIT AND SWITCH OZBARGAINERS????

  • No.

They have advertised it, you asked for it, you got it.

how on earth is that a bait and switch?

    • They only advertised it after 7pm.
OP only knew of it because he saw from somewhere else.

      • Ill ask once again, how is this bait and switch if the times are clearly advertised?

He saw the advertising and came into claim it.. which he did…

        • dude read carefully, OP knew the deal was on cause he saw it elsewhere maybe.

What he is trying to say is McDonalds doesn't put the ad up in store in that valid time, they only put the ad on when you can't no longer buy it.

I still don't see the issue.

He knew the deal that was on because he saw them advertise it elsewhere. I understand this. If it was a bait and switch, then instead of giving him the deal he came into the store for that he saw somewhere else, they would have said "Sorry that isnt available, but this is instead!"

changing the sign at 7pm on the dot is there so people who dont know about the deal will be enticed to return another time. It's clever marketing if anything.

There is nothing even slightly immoral or irregular about doing that.

  • Unethical, yes. But I don't think that constitutes a bait and switch, it is just advertising and the product is available (you got it). After all they have every right to choose when to advertise what they want whenever they want.

Is this the same person as true bargains?same format

  • Is it the same thing as that family meal box, with like 4 burgers and stuff from $20? I thought they were available until 11pm?? I remember last year I tried to buy one at 1am or something and got knocked back because it was after 11.

I know some Maccas don't advertise it at all but will do it if you ask for it (the Maccas I know which doesn't advertise it is in a shopping centre food court that isn't usually open for dinner, but they said they'll sell it anytime during their normal menu hours if you ask for it).

That particular McDonald's probably made a mistake with the ad board(s). I wouldn't really worry about it too much.

  • call the manager and lodge ur complaint

  • It's only bait and switch if you were drawn to the store solely for that item..
I challenge anyone to argue that they happened to stroll into a McDonald's with no intention to buy anything, then saw the Family Box and decided to line up for it!

    • well if it clearly says that its only valid between 5-7pm, then its not bait and switch too

it clearly tells u that u cant get it after 7pm, might be really small but ist there

I wish you had bought the McSpelling & Punctuation combo.

  • I think everyone should order something from Penta Computers every few years. The experience will restore their sense of perspective and they'll less often worked up over small issues they have with other businesses :D

    • Wouldn't apply to me though

Bought Once AND had a good experience, that too for a $1500 laptop. I wouldn't mind buying from them again, but the horror stories on whirlpool deter me.

  • Aren't all macca's dinner boxes 5-11pm?

  • I agree it's unethical.

The bait and switch could've been that they advertised the deal elsewhere but not in the store, so people came in looking for it and ended up buying something else. Otherwise I guess they'll probably be getting away with it, but it could have been an honest mistake too.
