Phone Recommendation with Good Selfie and Back Cameras $300-500

Hi gents, needing a phone recommendation with good selfie and back cameras for the teenager in my household. Any models I should consider in the $300-400 range? Thought about LG V30 but it doesn't have a good selfie camera. Is it worth waiting till December for the Christmas deals?

I've got a Xiaomi mi 9T, it pops up from time to time on here under $500.

    Downsides are microsd slot.
Upsides are widevine L1 (HD for netflix, YouTube, etc.), Band 28, NFC, 20mp pop up camera for the front (more screen real estate for people who don't use their front cams like me), triple rear cam setup (8mp telephoto, 13mp wide angle, 48mp primary shooter), 4000mah battery, etc.

Photos are great under good conditions. The lack of a proper image stabilisation setup does affect quality on those longer shutter duration shots like night shots though.

  • I bought a Google Pixel XL for $330 new about 12 months ago. The camera is great even by today's standards. You can now get a brand new Pixel 2 for around the same price:

Try to find a superseded top range phone rather than a mid-low tier recent phone.

Failing that go for the Xiaomi above. I've owned several of their phones (starting with a Mi4) and they've been great.

  • Google Pixel 3 XL is by far the best camera phone I've used. Got it last month on a Vodafone deal for $44 a month over 3 years with 20GB of data and unlimited calls and a bonus Goggle Home Mini. The non XL version was even cheaper. Previously I had the LG G6 & G4 and thought they were great camera phones at the time for around the $500 range.

  • Why not get the V30+ in two days when it hits the JB HiFi sale rack again and then install the Google camera app? The problem is software not the front camera hardware.
