Just say this today. I bought this amazing soundbar few days ago from Harvey Norman for $555 under their Big deal . the site was switching it from $695 to $555 and back, when ultimately i gave in and bought it fro $555. bought it via 28 degree, so would be claiming PP.

posting the deal if someone is in the market for this soundbar.

  • Hang on, how can a soundbar be "4K Ultra HD"?!!

      "What is passthrough"

Poor way of describing 4k passthrough I guess?

I have often posed the question - How can sound be HD, OR indeed 4K? I don't believe it's accurate terminology for audio.

It can however, be High Fidelity. But I think it's a matter of marketing. Because you can SEE a picture, and we put more stock in that. And fidelity is an old term that is seldom used.

So, for simplicity, manufacturers use these questionable 'equivalent' terms.

Passthrough just means it will pass all of the data through to the next device, (in this case, the TV, if it's after the sound bar). IE 3D, 4K, Dolby Digital, Network, Hand shaking etc.

  • Good time to upgrade from my old 1080p Full HD soundbar

    • This is why soundbars are stupid. Effectively putting speakers in the bin (not necessarily literally) is ridiculous.

Yes, I know that in some rooms only soundbars will fit. But you should be able to slot in a new motherboard for it and keep using the old speakers.

Amps are stupid too.. such unnecessarily forced product segmentation. A new model every year is nuts - a firmware upgrade should be enough that there is 5+ years between models. And the Australia tax is lunacy. But at least you can buy good speakers and keep them.

Good price. RRP is a bit high, can usually negotiate price around $550 fairly easily. Lacking a bit in the mids, but great for movies.

    I'm happy overall with mine.
