  • no love for Darwin ?

don't get too excited. Usually free breakfast means a banana and if you're early a bread roll and a coffee.

  • brisbane isn't a free brekky this year. it's a fund raiser for "smiling for siddy"

Melbourne goers, where do you suggest is the best place for breakie in the city/ north melb?

    See you there

  • What are the terms and conditions for the free breakfast? Do I need to be on my bike to get the free breakfast? Do I need to be wearing lyrca?

    • Bike yes, Lycra no

      • I don't have my bike on me at the moment. But I think just the helmet should be enough, since they would think I was crazy to walk around in a helmet.

Alternatively, I suppose a locked e-bike that you carry around is good enough?

    • I think you can walk or take public transport and still get the free breakfast.

I think it's an honour system thing.

I'll be riding to Logan Reserve. :)

    SA
St Paul’s Anglican Church, 554 Vulture Street, East Brisbane

That's a long ride for SA people.

    • Ah cheers, fixed.

  • 171 Collins St Melbourne as well.
End of the Trip facility and celebration. First 100 to arrive gets free yogurt breakfast.

    • Added. Any idea what time it starts? any official link?

  • Hat tip to anyone in Melbs braving the expected weather tomorrow on their bikes. I'm chickening out.

  • Can't I just get the free breakfast without doing any physical activity.

  • -1

make sure you wear bike shorts for maximum effect

  • It is at 140 Williams St as well in case someone is looking for more spots.

  • North Sydney council seems to be doing their own thing. https://www.northsydney.nsw.gov.au/Transport_Parking/Cycling…

      Cheers, added.

  • ACT Veterans Park event was more of a fundraiser than free breakfast last year. Anything more than a banana required a purchase. (Not that I mind supporting charity, just don’t want people to be surprised by it.)

  • Over the years, there's been some really good brekkies, and some so-so ones too. For those in Melb-north, the one at Velo-cycles (815 Nicholson St in Carlton) has been a very good one over the years. I've always wanted to go by the one in North Melbourne, but have never gone that way.

Note that it's supposed to rain 5-10mm in Melbourne on Wednesday (tomorrow). Even says chance of a thunderstorm and possible hail. Yikes. However, the Weatherzone app shows the rain is more likely to be after 9am, and some/most of these breakfasts end at 9am.

  • There was nobody at Union Square in Sydney CBD. Not sure if they moved the location or had a last-minute cancellation, but a bit irritating to get there, walk around for about 10 minutes and see no other cyclists or evidence of an event!

EDIT Ah, worked out the issue - it was at Union Square Pyrmont, not 456 Kent St as stated on the Bicycle Network website.

Well, it's over now so better luck next year I guess!

  • If councils really cared about bike riders, they would clean up the bike paths. I ride most days. The bike paths are full of glass, rubbish and are unsafe. Trees are overgrown and if not careful will hit your head. In some parts its gravel, because they run out of concrete. Forgot to mention the speed humps, after they cut the concrete and refilled it with tar, Very dangerous.
