ASOS RIPPED ME OFF - Voucher code refund

Spend 250 get $70 off
Spend 150 get $50 off
Spend 100 get $30 off

Is there any way to contact a manager at ASOS…. basically i made an order for 250+ and so I received $70 off…. I returned an $80 item as it was too big… they cancelled my $70 off completely and refunded 10 bucks.

I have spoken to customer service via email & chat several times telling them i still spent over $200 so i am entitled to $50 off… they told me SORRY NO…. i asked for the product to be sent back to me, id pay postage - they said NO.

Quite frankly this is pretty shocking, ive ordered thousands of dollars with Asos and they've treat me pretty badly with no solution whatsoever.

Looking for advice please.

  • The same thing happened to a colleague and asos advised that the T&Cs apply to each promo code.

That is, where multiple promo codes are on offer based on different spend tiers, as were applicable at the time of your purchase, you cannot drop between tiers following a return, and expect the adjusted promo code to then be applied.

    Hope the above explanation assists!

    • Thanks mate, yeah i guess i will live and learn. Thanks for not being an arse like many people who replied.

      • All good 😀

Your title was begging for it, TBH.

What did you expect to happen, that you'd buy $250 worth of stuff for $180, return $80 item and end up at $100 spend for $170 worth of goods?

What's in the terms and conditions of the coupon you used?

    • -6

My order total was around 160-170 so surely i still get the $50 off instead of $70 off… its not hard to understand.

Again, what's in the terms of the coupon code you used?

        And don't call me Shirley

        • Like the Airplane ref but still not happy haha

I dont know the terms as offer isnt on anymore.

The fact is, i still spent over 150 so SHIRLEY they should give me that next lower discount.

I completely understand that i shouldnt get 70 off, but i should get 50 off

I somewhat agree. What would happen in the scenario that the item you returned cost less than $70. Would you then owe ASOS money?

        • My order total prior to voucher was $298 so i dont get you. Im clearly not trying to stitch the system here.

After return, and prior to any discount i spent 220 ish so how can they not give me the next discount down.

Dunno why people arent getting this….. its simple math.

          • @steveray9a: I'm not saying you're gaming the system. I am saying there is something wrong with the logic ASOS is applying here. For arguments sake, say your bracelet only cost $50. By ASOS logic, you would be in a situation where your total order is 248 - therefore you lose your $70 discount, but get a $50 refund. So in the end you would owe them $20 and lose the bracelet. This makes no sense. Just trying to point that out.

you should have asked for an exchange, if it was too big.

OP was probably trying to game their system and lost! lol

Not playing the system at all…. it was a bracelet for missus and its one size only, i still spent 150-160 so was just expecting to get the 50 discount as advertised.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes ;)

        • -2

Lol, if buying my missus something nice is stupid then hang me ;)

          • @steveray9a: no but not reading the terms and conditions of the promotion is stupid.

Worst case…just refund the whole lot and order again using the code for Spend $150.

    • +1

Was happy with 95% of the order so have used the other and cant order again :(

I would of kept the bracelet instead of getting $9 back instead of $60 !!

I still spent over 200 so i thought i would get the $50 discount insead, its pretty harsh.

It looks like you voided the terms of the promotion by changing the conditions of your order.

Shops usually don't/can't apply promotions post order, especially if has already expired. You should have just canceled the entire order.

    • Thanks for a sensible reply mate. I guess il have to bite the bullet on this one…. il email and ask to confirm refund amount next time so i dont get burnt.

The discount is applied at purchase, you refund anything and you lose the discount, simple as that.

Asos didnt rip you off, you ripped yourself off.

  • Yeah, you used one voucher - made yourself ineligible for it so it was cancelled. They're not going to help you apply another voucher, that'd take another transaction.

  • hahahahaha lol. you should've read the terms and conditions first. It clearly said that any refunds you make will be cancelled out by the savings of the promotion. The amount refunded is not proportionate to the percentage of the order that refund is. Your fault.

  • You had the equivalent of 28% off which seems to indicate to me that you should have received a refund of $57.60. Or at least something close to that.

Considering that my girlfriend likes to buy from ASOS specifically to refund/exchange it if its a bad fit as you can't try in store, I agree with you OP.
