Used Car with Autonomous Emergency Braking

Looking for advice on makes and models of used sedans with AEB - adaptive cruise control would also be great but AEB is the key feature. Budget up to $20k and the preferred size range is Mazda3 to Falcon/Commodore. Mid size SUV a possibility. Currently enjoy driving 2004 BA Falcon Futura about 8000kms per year - great suspension and very comfortable for a tall person - but it's time for an upgrade and a few more safety features. Recommendations welcome.

Have a look at this link to determine cars that have AEB, and then start focusing on availability / budget / etc.

  • All the cars I drive have emergency braking, just not autonomous. Why do you NEED this feature?

    • Also curious.

Learn to drive and you won't need it ;)

It's been a feature that's only just come around over the last few years. Good luck!

2013 onwards Liberty has Eyesight in Liberty 2.5i Premium, automatic Liberty GT Premium, plus the new Liberty X models as standard equipment.

If you buy interstate you'll find one

The self proclaimed driving gods are out again, riding on their horses so high. Get a life. It'll be mandatory on new cars before long.

Results: FCW alone and FCW with AEB reduced rear-end striking crash involvement rates by
23% and 39%, respectively. FCW with AEB reduced rates of rear-end striking crash involvements with
injuries by 42% and rates of rear-end striking crash involvements with third-party injuries by 44%,

    • Just becuase it will be mandatory doesn’t mean you have to spend up bigger than your budget to get it now. All I see it doing is making it easier to drive while distracted because ‘the car is going to stop for you anyway’.

    • True AEB isn’t about convenience it’s about safety, it’s not like we’re talking about Tesla autopilot. No one should have to justify wanting to go to the max with safety.

@OP just be careful AEB isn’t AEB. There are systems that work only at low speeds, others which operate at high speeds as well, and rear AEB systems that work when reversing.

As someone below has stated Subaru with eyesight, or potentially a Mazda 3 / CX5 optioned with safety pack could be worth a look

    Subaru equipped with Subaru eyesight

  • 2010-2012 Nissan Skyline Crossover with Driver Assist Pack has AEB
2019 Kia Cerato BD S has AEB
    2013-2014 Subaru Liberty has AEB
2018-2019 Nissan Qashqai J11 Series 2 has AEB
    2014-2015 Infiniti Q50 has AEB

Thats all I can think of at the moment that have it for certain. All of these can be had for slightly over 20k or below in those year ranges.

  • VW Golf with Driver Assist Pack - will have AEB as well as ACC and even auto parking
