Our weighted toy puppy weighs 1.5kg and is the perfect companion for any child (or adult)

Weighted Toys, like Weighted Blankets, work by providing a deep pressure on the body, which provides calming input. When calm it is easier for our mind to process information and learn, or relax and fall asleep.

Weighted Toys can be used to help improve alertness and focus for activities and learning. They can help to reduce stress and anxiety, or feelings of overwhelm. Weighted Toys are also the perfect companion for bedtime, helping to relax and feel comforted at bedtime.

“Hi. I can't wait to be your new buddy, but first let me tell you a bit about myself.
As you can see I am cute and I am cuddly and I love to have fun.
Cuddles are my favourite thing in the whole world and I think playing games together is really fun.
Sometimes I can feel a little bit sad or anxious and that's when I love a cuddle the most.
If you feel sad or anxious, or need someone to cuddle to sleep, I will be right there ready for a cuddle”

What to do with your puppy…?

  • Is there any proof for these claims of helping children feel more relaxed?

I tried a Google search and found from Harvard, on weighted blankets and it mentioned

    https://www.health.harvard.edu/mind-and-mood/anxiety-and-str…

They may provide benefits for people with insomnia and anxiety, but research is scarce

I know this isn't a blanket, but is there any evidence for the claims about this weighted product?

I have 2 children who are autistic, they both like the feeling of weighted blankets, to them it's a sensory seeking thing, having that pressure is calming for them a little bit like a big hug, every autistic child is different and unique tho so may gravitate towards different sensation seeking.
I could see this maybe as being something useful for some people but honestly don't believe there is a bargain to be found here.

How can Amazon deliver a 2kg bottle of Coke for free and only charge like a dollar, but this weighted toy which weighs less is $45? Can't you just get a regular $5 toy and replace the stuffing with Coke to turn it into a weighted toy, where does the other $40 in value come from if not from the toy/shipping/weight.

    • +20

A toy stuffed with 1.5kg of coke for $45 is a bargain.

      • It would be the deal of the century. The street value of that would be around $450k.

          PNOSEBEER for 20% off?

        • I await the border force tv show where these get featured. And the dumbass bringing it denying they are carrying anything illegal. Though some total random paid for their trip overseas because you know. Doing out the kindness of their hearts.

      • depends on type and quality of coke

I just use a brick to calm me down.

    Just jump on your kids.

or hug them, whichever is easier

      • 🤨

They are sticky. Why would you hug them?
Obviously not a licensed human owner

it doesn't fart in bed like a real dog does

    • +1

I'm sure someone will come up with a stuffed toy mechanics that will randomly fart while said stuff toy is under the bed sheets. Complete with the suffocating stench.

  • +3

    Damn, thats expensive.
Wouldn't a better idea be to just buy a cheap stuffed dog from Kmart, and fill it with a heatpack? Weighs as much, and can be microwaved for a warm hug

      Mcguyvering it. I like it.

      • Respects macgyver - I like you.

MacGyver? My dictionary contains that word, not sure if that's how it's spelled

          My bad for the typo

  • I predict that we'll see "weighted underpants" on ozbargain before the year is out

$7 at Bunnings for basically the same thing.

    • I'd argue they look better too. Nice find.
