    The book is written for 3B. You can derive this from the intro chapter:

    The latest version of this is the Raspberry Pi 3, which is the immediate successor of the Raspberry Pi 2.

    Not a surprise it is free now since RPi 4 is out and a lot of what's written in the book is outdated. After reading the sample, I cannot even be bothered adding it to the cart and buy it for free.

    Have too many "free" books…

  Umm, not really, unless the ultrasonic sensor is serial.

    Many ultrasonic sensors connect via SPI bus (Serial Peripheral Interface).

      I think you mean module, not sensor. The onboard microcontroller is communicating via SPI, not the sensor/transducer. If you are using SPI to interface with an ultrasonic module, the considerable amplification, filtering and timing have already been done for you.
