Spotify Now Charging Me from UK Instead of Aus?

I've been a happy primary family aus account holder of Spotify for years now and have just noticed my latest charge has been taken from the Spotify UK instead of Aus resulting me in being charged an international transaction fee, I have not changed any preferences or anything.

Has anyone noticed the same on their account?

I'm pretty pissed!

Have you contacted them? That should be your first step.

    • I have, they couldn't help and suggested I contact PayPal, this is not going to be fun…

    • I've never had an extra surcharge and I've always been charged $6/12. Weird seeing that.

    • Thank you for that, I was unaware this was possible, it's probably buried in the terms and conditions I accepted when I signed up but this is the first time it's happened and I've been a subscriber for a few years now. Seems very dodgy IMO.

      • It's not Spotify charging you the fee, it's your bank.

I am aware of that, but I didn't expect to be charged from an international service, Spotify normally processes my payments from Australia, not the UK.

  • Have you checked what the 'home country' of your account is? Has it been changed to the UK or remains Australia? Either way, don't see a problem with it other than having to change the payment card to a forex-fee-free card.
