Where Can I Get Quality Vinyl Wrap for My Car?

Does anyone have experience vinyl wrapping their cars and know where you can buy good quality vinyl wrap like hexis, 3m or avery dennison from?

I've wrapped 3 cars before and have the experience to comfortably wrap a car but the price of vinyl is insane in Australia

I contacted avery dennison supplier in Melbourne for gloss roaring thunder and they want $2200 for 22m

Metrorestyling website has the same colour for $895USD but want 350USD for shipping. This is still cheaper than the supplier here, but I was wondering if anyone knows any place or website to buy vinyl wrap?

I've heard that it's possible to get about 20m for about 800AUD but not sure where from

  • Someone on eBay (in Melbourne too) flogging off 3M 1080 series wraps fairly cheap.

    • Do you have a link or seller's name? I was only able to find unbranded vinyl wrap on ebay

  • Go direct to source, contact Spandex Australia.

  • There should be plenty of information on the Detail Paradise forum. According to their website, Invisible Car Bras use the brand called Premiumshield, so that should be a good option as ICB do many exotic cars. Hopefully that info is current. You might also want to consider getting something like Gtechniq HALO Flexible Film Coating.

Edit: by vinyl wrap, I'm assuming you mean paint protection film.

    • Thanks for the info, i was referring to colour vinyl wrap to change the colour of the car. I am after paint protection film as well for other projects but didn't have time to look into it yet

      • +1

If you can't find your answer on the Detail Paradise forum or on the Whirlpool forum, then you could consider contacting a reputable car detailer and asking nicely :-) I could give you a contact if you're stuck.

  • I saw many of these on eBay for like $100, even got one but this was back in 2014.

edit: Check eBay, there's still heaps for $200-$400. Example. Most are 3M quality without the 3M Logo, so reviews are your friend.

    • I've messaged the sellers, unfortunately thats
calendered vinyl wrap which is the cheap quality that removes paint when you try to remove the wrap. I am looking for cast vinyl wrap

      • You're probably right, I just don't know the difference between the two.
Well, besides the cost for say $100-$400 ones, and the one's your quoting for +$1,000.

At that point, I would start considering a respray instead.

Metrorestyling website has the same colour for $895USD

That price is before USA sales taxes are added BTW, but before taxes, its still ~$1300. Shipping is the killer if you don't want to bent ;)

I've heard that it's possible to get about 20m for about 800AUD but not sure where from

You heard? Well ask the person you heard from then!

    • It was someone at a car meet, dont have contact with them.

The website didn't show me any extra tax at checkout but they have an ebay account (the vinyl wrap is more expensive by 20~ usd but shipping is way cheaper around 90USD

  • just curious. if vinyl wrap car with faded paint, will the wrap protect the body from rusting like a new paint job?

    • I've done this to a bonnet of a car but i used primer before applying vinyl wrap and it's been holding up fine after 14 months

  • 3M and Avery are most popular for colour changing wraps, Hexis is good too.

GAMart, Spandex, Spicer's, conect for suppliers but you will probably get RRP pricing. Put abit of pressure on sales rep could save 20-30% or you could check a local wrap company to order.

I would not recommend primers unless for marine and just the edges then.
