Residential History Prove for Visa Application

Morning OzBargainers.

Long story short, I had apply a partner visa with my partner for more than a year now. What happen was the Immigration Department emailed us few days ago. They needed proof that we had lived together from 8/2017 to 8/2018. Now I've got enough documents myself, but my partner hasn't got many "government/law" proofs yet (don't even know why we couldn't find anything).

We actually had lived together from that time until now. All we can find from emails, old receipts were only about uber trips, online shopping receipts, but not anything truly convincing yet. We also didn't have any utilities invoice at that time yet (someone else used their account to pay for those bills online). Now I thinking maybe my partner can go to the bank and asked for residential proofs, but unfortunately my partner had cancelled that account for a while now. Or maybe we can go to department of transport and ask for the residential proofs, but I doubt they wouldn't even care about our situation and shake their heads. \

If anyone can give me an idea about where we can get those document from. I greatly appreciate the help.

Have a good one. :)

my partner can go to the bank and asked for residential proofs

I think the bank gets residential proof from you.

we can go to department of transport and ask for the residential proofs,

    Same here.

someone else used their account to pay for those bills online

That's the proof they need. For the purpose of proof, someone else is living in your home.

Do you have a rental agreement?

We bought a residental property few months ago. Left with $30k right now in the saving account.

From your other post, you purchased a property. I presume you're living there. Aren't both your names on the title and why is someone else paying for your utilities under a name that isn't yours?

    • Hi Tshow. Great to have you help me again. Hope you been well. :)

Oh yes. We only bought the property this year. Immigration Department needs our proof of residence from 08/17. From 08/17 to 03/18 we rent a room with someone else, but unfortunately, it wasn't under our name (wait, maybe I can try to find the tenancy agreement with my old mate that I used to live there with, he paid the bills).

From 03/18 to now we're all clear because we rented using our name. The annoying part is 08/17 to 03/18. Hopefully, my partner can get the bank to help her with the statement from her old/canceled account. Ughhhh.

      • The bank will still have your details on file and can assist.

The bank will close your account but your profile lives on… forever.

        • That's very good news to hear. Thanks for giving me some advises again Tshow. Cheers

        Ughhhh

        Yes?

        • Ughhh. Any ideas? xD

  • Would old mobile phone bills help. Addresses will match up.

    • Or if you have detailed bills, majority of calls could possibly be made from the house. May be proof that you lived in x suburb

    • I will try ask for them. Thanks man. :)

    • Yep. Definitely good and safe option to go. Cheers.

    Marriage certificate.
    Employer confirmation of address.
    Medicare.
    Drivers Licence.
    Insurance.

    • Cool. Thanks for that mate.

      • Doesn't the partner have anything posted to them? Bills, fines, dr reminders. Anything like that means the sender has their address on file.

        • She must had. But we can't find any of those at the moment. :(

  • You seem to have assumed a lot isn’t possible before having asked your bank etc – I bet it is.

There are lots of reasons people need proof of their residential history, even if they are an Australian citizen – e.g. at uni for scholarships, in the workplace to complete a security clearance.

Many organisations would be very familiar with receiving these requests and have a process for doing it

    Some quick results from google
e.g. Westpac hold copies of old bank statements for 7 years and will give them to you for a $5 fee https://westpac.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/120
in QLD you can get a copy of your drivers licence history by mail https://www.qld.gov.au/transport/licensing/history/licence

    so on, so forth.

Last time I had to do it I collected heaps of things, phone bills, old letters, payslips, NOA from the ATO, receipts, etc. You can do a stat dec or get a JP to certify something is a genuine copy of an electronic document, like a printed copy of an online receipt.

    • Right. Yeah I got freakout quite easily, but your point is spot on. I'll tell my partner to go to the bank and ask for them this arvo. Appreciate it mate. :)

  • My neighbour had asked us to write a letter to confirm that she lived with her partner and are in a genuine marriage. Would something like that work?

    • Yes I think it could works too. At this state of application process, the more we provide, the better. :) thanks man

    • That's different. That's a requirement for a marriage PR although, that may also be required here but not the specific item required by OP.

He/she isn't at the stage of proving a legitimate marriage. They're still trying to demonstrate they live together.

      • Suprisingly, immigration department takes De facto and marriage quite similar. Most common sense documents are more or less the same. What I am trying to do right now is to get the most documents we can. The more proofs the better.

        • Not for immigration purposes.

  • Google location history?! Good luck! Been there done that (partner visa).

    • Wow. Never thought of that. Thanks man. :)

  • Obtain a Stat Dec… show utilities expenditure reflecting usage equivalent of at least two people.

Your partner has no records of residing anywhere else, so he must be staying with you.

  • we made up a scrap book with emails, photos etc to show how we had lived together for a long period. use anything you can think of as proof, old letters/emails, photos, texts etc. does she have proof of when she moved out of her old place? Bond receipt etc. did your partner change addresses with phone companies, drivers licence, her bank, medicare, credit card, store cards, subscriptions. Did you guys buy anything together like appliances etc that would have a name & address attached to a warranty etc. Any bank statements showing payments for rent, electricity, gas etc linked to an account number for that property?

    good luck

    • Very appriciate your comment man. Gave me lots of idea. Thank you.
