Colorbond Fence Installation Storm Damage

Hi all,

I had a colorbond fence installed by a legitimate fencing company around January 2019 who have a QBCC license. Recently there was a storm in our area and some of the colorbond panels slid out of their frame.

The Storm wasn't that impactful, and I don't believe this should have affected my fence. My neighbours also have colorbond fences, yet mine were the only ones affected. I have about 30m of fencing and only 4 panels slid out.

I'm curious if anyone has experience installing colorbond fences and whether the panels are supposed to be bolted to the frame? I thought they were.

I have since contacted the fencing company and they said they will come repair it, but I haven't asked them if they will bolt the panels to the frame this time. I'm concerned they'll just slot them back in and it'll happen again.

Any advice, appreciated.
Thanks

This happened to me, installer bloke had cut a few panels too small and they blew out in strong winds a couple weeks later. Company came back and installed some properly cut panels at no charge. Although i hadnt paid the bill at the time, so they had an incentive to make it right. No issues since.

    • Thanks for that, I appreciate the response. I think perhaps they might have cut mine too small too by the looks of it.

and whether the panels are supposed to be bolted to the frame?

Nope, they just slip in to place, and the top piece is put on to lock them all in.
