In Grafton NSW, BMW E90 320i Needs Help (Showing "Engine Fault, Reduced Power")

Just drive to here in the Saturday morning, once back and start car, it show "engine fault, reduced power".

But car still can drive as normal, give it a break and wait till night, now can't drive faster than 50km/h.

Any car mechanic in Grafton open Sunday? I need to drive back Sydney tomorrow?

I think a reset code will fix it, if not might be spark plug or ignition coil failed or actually is the fuel pump failed when not enough petrol, anyone can help?

Please thanks.

Do you have NRMA roadside assistance?

  • no. and don't think roadside assist can fix fuel pump etc

If NRMA roadside assistance aren't able to fix your car then they could assist in terms of knowledge of local area mechanics and their availability on a Sunday.

  • Nrma wouldn't have a clue how to help with this.

Many NRMA guys in rural area are ex mechanics. they might have a bit of a clue.

      • And they will also know what mechanics might be open to assist.

They are all mechanics. This is their flowchart:

        Does it crank?
Yes - if it doesn't start, call tow truck
No - check the battery, replace if bad, if battery is good, call tow truck.

Does it now run with new battery?
Yes - tell customer it is fixed
No - tell customer it is fuel pump/ignition coil/key (pick at random) and call tow truck.

Really you come to ozbargain for this…………

Just thinking how your mind works, oh my car is stuffed, but I need to check ozbargain…….

Just call the NRMA they clearly know more than you do. At least they can clear the code and maybe take it out of limp mode.

Then get rid of the Beemer buy a jap car, done!

    • NRMA they clearly know more than you do.

we know more than nrma , well at least to op

Use the bmw as a payment to the Uber driver.

    • That will get them from Grafton CBD to the city limits… what then? :D

Local paper free from servo may have 24/7 mechanics ad.
Have u googled for Grafton motor mechanic?
When it is fixed you pay bmw tax then sell it and do what Mikinoz said..😁

  • BMW also offer a 24 hour helpline. They might be able to help:

    https://www.bmw.com.au/en/topics/offers-and-services/persona…

    • I doubt this applies to ones that are 10+ years old.

      • Why wouldn't it apply ?

A reputable company like BMW would continue to provide service, even for older models.

It wouldn't be free, of course, but they would still take the car in & repair it.

        • It wouldn't apply because it's for people with BMW roadside assistance?

The car has alerted BMW, they have assembled a crack team of engineers who will be catching the next Lufthansa flight out to rescue the stricken 320i.
