Uniqlo Vs Levi's for jeans?

Anyone had experience with either or both? Looking for best quality.

I love uniqlo jeans. I’ve been wearing only them since about 2012. I’ve got one pair from 2012 that I still wear, and I still have some from 2014 too. Going strong.

I only buy on sale because they always go on sale.

    Free in store alterations too.

      More accurately https://faq-au.uniqlo.com/articles/en_US/FAQ/Alteration-Serv…

We offer free normal lock stitch for selected UNIQLO pants priced $29.90 or more. For items priced less than $29.90 and for those requiring a blind stitch, only a $6 fee will be applied. Our alterations service only includes shortening the length of selected pants, and does not include tapering. This service is available at all UNIQLO Australia stores at the discretion of the alterations manager, including for pants ordered online.

We can also alter selected pants after purchase, and a proof of purchase just needs to be provided depending on the condition of the item. If you do not have a proof of purchase, it will be up to the discretion of the alterations manager and a $6 fee may just be applied.

Please be advised that once an item has been altered you are unable to return or exchange it.

      • Very good point, thanks.

Jeans are always over $29.90 unless on clearance.

I’ve not been lucky enough to get jeans sub $29.90 from there so have always been applicable for the free alterations.

They don't make Levi's like they used to. Bought a pair just over a year ago and the material started to thin near my back rear right pocket. Label for another pair of Levi's started to disintegrate like paper after multiple wash. No more Levi's for me, at least not at full price :D Bought my first pair of Uniqlo jeans 6 months ago and I found them very comfy and very well priced.

  • Levis are rubbish.

Get Country Road or Calvin Klein or the more expensive brands like Hugo Boss, rag and bone, paige, the good G-star Raw jeans (not made in a sweat shop)

    • the good G-star Raw jeans (not made in a sweat shop)

How do you find the "good" ones?

      • Made in India for G-star I think.

ADdress of factory: FIBRES & FABRICS INTERNATIONAL LTD
JEANS KNIT PRIVATE LTD UNIT 6
NO. K56,K57 & K59, SIPCOT, APPAREL PARK, IRUNGATTUKOTTAI

        INDIA

The premium is extremely high. I find the manufacturing and cotton quality is better in India compared to East and South-east asia

    No love for RM Williams?

    • OZB's favourite men's brand! Paired only with a North Face jacket.

      • can 't forget the Bose headphones.

  • My last pair of jeans was Uniqlo and I like them a lot, they seem to be better quality than my Levis (though I haven't bought Levis for a few years and still have some 501's from the 90's :) ). I bought the Uniqlo's instore where I could try them on.

    uniqlo everything

  • I haven't tried Uniqlo. I used to wear levis but not anymore as I love my jack and jones.

  • Uniqlo are one of the best bang for buck, especially if you get their stretch selvage.

Levis still do great stuff with their LVC line, but the mass market stuff is garbage.

Regardless of where you go, 1-2% elastane is good for comfort and the jeans will hold their shape well. Anything more than 4% they lose shape and you compromise on durability.

  • I buy Levi's every year when they have the 40-50% or more sales on them on their website or ebay. I buy the same cut and size every year and find they are mostly consistent. Although some years the fabric seems a little less heavy or more stretched but I generally pretty good.

And for $45-$55 a pair delivered I can't complain because I have been wearing them nearly every day over the last year and they have lasted (by a couple of pairs to rotate). The ones that are 3 years old or so are pretty faded and worn though.

  • With Uniqlo you can’t get the pair altered for free which is a big plus

Who wears jeans anymore but for cut offs 1/2" bellow the genitals around bars in Asia? and bikies that can't ride bikes with chicken legs

I recently bought 2 pairs of ultra stretchy (?) jeans from Uniqlo. They fitted perfectly when I tried them on but after 2 weeks they became way too loose. I am devastated considering I bought them at full price.t

Btw I see that you're located in Vic. If alteration is something you need, I recently discovered that Dejour Jeans in Brunswick sells jeans for $55 including alterations, unlike Uniqlo, they will actually do the tapering for you too. I have not tried them but they are def on my list to try next.

    • Take the jeans back for a replacement or refund under the ACL. Uniqlo's customer service generally isn't great, but you should get there in the end.

  • I like Levis 501s but they are expensive unless you buy in USA.

Recently bought some Calvin Kleins and they are great for something more "dressy"

  • Claude Maus (eBay), Neuw, Edwin, Outland Denim.

Uniqlo had great mens jeans when they first came to Australia. Now they only seem to have ultra skinny jeans or thermal jeans or weird jeans (eg. 3/4 length mens jeans… what the…). I've been waiting for them to stock slim-fit dark denim jeans for years now.

  • Had a few pairs of uniqlo jeans for a few years and still going strong. The slim fits me really well and have lasted well.

Only criticism is the sizing. First pair I bought were quite stretchy and they were great when they were new, however have stretched out and become looser than I would like. So next time I bought a size down and they haven't stretched at all and are still on the tight side
