Recommend Price for 2019 Mazda CX5 Maxx Auto FWD

I just paid $1,000 deposit for the brand new 2019 Mazda CX-5 Maxx Auto FWD in soul red colour with tinted windows and premium black alloy wheels, 5 year warranty, 4 free services, 5 year free roadside assistance… at purchase price $35,888 drive away (RRP $36,888). Clearly I only get $1,000 discount but I couldn’t do any more bargain with the dealer. It took me more than 1 hour to negotiate with the salesmen. I am planning to pay cash only for this car.

But now I wonder if I get the good deal or not. Honestly I am a very busy single working Mum so I really don’t have time to shop around. And my old car is not working properly anymore so I urgently need a reliable car for me and my child.

And I don’t know much about cars so just want to get advice from everyone whether I should take this deal or get a refund of the deposit (I signed the contract which gives me 3 business days cooling off period but I guess the dealer will not give me full refund).

    Not a deal.

Invoke the 3 day cooling off period and start again.

    Deposit must be returned.

    • The dealer gave me 2 choices:
1-Pay cancellation fee 2% of the purchase price.

2-Accept $500 more discount form them and take the deal. So I get $1,500 discount in total.

And I don’t want to pay the cancellation fee so have take the deal eventually.

Does it say (in writing, in the contract that you signed), that you have to pay the 2% if you cancel in the 3 days?

I believe you are being strung along until the 3 days is gone….

Yes cancellation fee is stated in the written contract. The dealer is not tricky but not easy to deal with either. Anyway I got the new car now🤣

Have you considered Toyota RAV4? Even at base model it will turn out cheaper with more features and more cabin space. To top it off, total cost of ownership is much lower than Mazda.

Not a deal at all. Have you considered buying used with low KMs?

You could potentially save yourself a lot of money buying a 2017/2018 model instead.

I understand you're in a rush but making hasty decisions can end up costing you more than necessary.

you should definitely get more discount. 1000 is very less. probably around 8 to 10 % based on negotiation.

Ah, gotta love the above comments contributing to your buyers remorse. Armchair experts, thinking they know how negotiable new models are, without any form of proof to the effect. None of them have actually bought a new model CX5, that would be asking too much.

If you're happy with it, go for it. If you don't have time to shop the price around town, then go for it. If you're happy with the service you got, even during negotiation, then go for it. Don't let the "Eddie the Experts" sway you from a car you like, when they don't even own one.

FYI latest WP spreadsheet showed 2x NSW buyers @ $33 & $34k, but who knows how much time they spent to get those figures.

      Upvote!
I spent a week to get $2K off a 2019 demo (3K) CX8 Asaki + some extra stuff. I doubt anyone can get much more off a brand new CX5 Maxx.

I just called the Mazda dealer in Caroline Springs to negotiate with them again even I have already signed the contract. Guess what the dealer is very hard to negotiate but finally agreed to give me $500 more discount. So total I get $1,500 discount for the brand new 2019 Maxda cx5 Maxx. And that’s enough for me as I don’t have time for more negotiation. Deal made.

There you go. A price you are happy((ish) with. Now enjoy the new car when you pick it up and forget about the possibility that someone else was able to pick one up a smidgen cheaper.

      • Hi rookie317, I am in the market for CX8 now. Initially I was Considering Sport model. But 2018 Asaki Demo are reduced now and they are between 52,000 to 55,000. For $55,000 with 6000 kms on the clock, how much you think the sales person can budge? I know its like how long is the piece of string. But I am just looking for average discount in terms of % for a Demo I can get. do you think I can Get around $2000 off?? if i get any discounts?.. Also the car is Nov 2018 built CX8. So hope there is not much issue with it. I am new to market.. Since it is end of year now.. should I wait further till late Dec 19 ?? any advice is much appreciated.

Hi, I got my demo (3300 kms) CX-8 Asaki for ~55K with G-Techniq paint protection + interior treament + tinted windows + 5yrs SCHMICK + some extra accessories , it's a May 2018 build. EOFY is generally June that's when dealers try to clear out their stocks. There's a 2019 Stock Clearance right now for Mazda, although I don't think that affects demo cars much. I definitely think you can get 2K off 55K for a 2018 model but it's easier to ask for extras imo. It was a Sydney dealer btw.

          • @rookie317: Thanks Rookie317, Much appreciated. Just one more question. Since you own a CX8 already, Do you have a issue with DPF in your model? Or did you encounter issue with Raising oil levels?
