Spotted an Aldi clearing out mitre saw stands for a good price, but didn't buy one in the end because I couldn't really think how it would be too different to just putting my crappy mitre saw on the working table I have in the garage anyway, with some wood blocks to support longer pieces if needed.
But when I googled it up afterwards everyone seems to say they were the bees-knees and definitely worth it.
Is there something obvious I've not thought about? (besides getting it off the floor)
DEFINITELY recommend this feature. I can't begin to describe how useful it has been to have an end stop + measurement to make repetitive cuts
Bought one when building my deck and it was super convenient and efficient. Now it kinda sits in the garage with the saw on top taking up copious amounts of space. Pros and cons, I guess.
A stand would be more portable than a table. I bought my Ozito mitre saw with a stand but the stand is pretty flimsy so if you do get a stand make sure the legs/feet are fairly strong.
I got an ALDI one abut two years ago, haven't used it yet.
I got it out when bought and set it up, seemed sturdy enough, then put it back in the box so it can be stored better.
I haven't had the need to use it as most cutting has been done with circular saw since then.

I just put mine on the ground outside. Seems to work OK and then don't have to store the stand or clean up sawdust.
Unless you are using your saw several times a day every day if the week it’s not worth it. I’ve been using mine for projects and is easy enough being on the ground, or a table or folding workbench if the job suits.
Haven’t used my big compound slide mitre saw much recently, mostly using an 18v cordless one that is light and quite portable.
Mitre saw stand with "feed in" rollers and end stops are great. It's the fastest way to make production cuts but set up time isn't worth it for a few pieces.
