Lowest Carb Whey Protein Product

Hi there,

I'm looking for the lowest carb per serving whey protein product available.
Would also like to know your experience with the product - taste, texture etc.

Thanks

Optimum nutrition 100% Gold Standard. Double Choc is probably one of the best tasting protein powders in the market (also very low in carbs). It is on sale every now and then as well.

Bulk Nutrients probably one of the lowest carbs.
Taste good to me but I notice doesn't shake up as well as others.

Lowest carb you are looking for a Whey Protein Isolate. Whey Protein Concentrate, by very nature of being a Concentrate and not an Isolate, has more carbs.

Bulk Nutrients Chocolate flavour has 0.9g per 100g.

Optimum 100% Gold Standard is not an Isolate, so has 9.9g per 100g.

US brands don't need to label per 100g, so information is usually extrapolated from their serving size. It tends to then be rounded down, so many Isolates will claim 0g of carb. It's much of a muchness though, and so long as it is a pure Isolate, you'd be getting low digits% carb on most.

As for flavour, I like Dymatize Iso 100 Fudge Brownie. But it does have a bit higher carb content for an Isolate, with 6.3g per 100g.

Oh, and a pure isolate will mix THIN.

    • Thanks Morien - newbie here, so why would one use and isolate vs a concentrate ?

        Lower carbs.

        Maybe lactose intolerance.

Edit: Just to be clear, any advantages beyond that (that I can think of off the top of my head) are pretty meaningless. Isolate supposedly has a faster absorption rate, which is meaningless (as long as the protein gets absorbed, it doesn't matter how long it takes).

        • I agree with you but I think you missed an obvious advantage and that's higher protein per serve / per 100g, whatever the measure..

Isolate has a higher protein content and is one of the other / main reasons people use it over concentrate.

I don't think higher protein content is meaningless 😂 though it comes at a premium of course

      • Only time I've ever chosen WPI over WPC is when getting right down to low levels of bodyfat and every carb / fat mattered.

WPC otherwise is excellent and very cost effective from the bulk suppliers such as bulk nutrients mentioned above.
