Lagavulin 16 Year Old Single Malt $86.35 Delivered @ BoozeBud ($100 Min Spend, New Customers)

530
BESTBUD

Ron Swanson's whisky of choice. Peaty Islay deliciousness. Right now, the cheapest 16yo you can buy in Australia. Don't go mentioning that you can get it cheaper elsewhere, e.g. Thailand, ya grubs.

Lagavulin's 16yo Single Malt is one of the whiskies to put Islay on the map. This whisky is big, it has very very strong concentrated flavours of peat, smoke, vanilla and sherry oak with a slight hint of salt. The thick mouth feel, bursts with smoky sweetness providing for a long smoked vanilla finish.

Just remember this one is for the peaty lovers.

I actually think the peat is pretty balanced in this one, especially compared to something like Ardbeg 10 (which I also love by the way).

And if you find the peat overpowering, there's always Coke, haha…

      • +9

You can enjoy whisky however you want. If you want to destroy the nectar that is from the great zeus's golden cow's teat, then by all means add coke. I am already crying thinking about it…

    • I love that you sneaked your refer a friend code in!

      • confirmed he used his referral code…

    • Yeah this is a nicely balanced Islay, if you want peat in the face go Laphroaig. I started on that then discovered this beauty.

I'm not a whiskey drinker but a friend who is a whiskey fanatic says this is the best you can buy in this price range.

    • +4

best valued age statement and is a staple in the cabinets of every whisky lover.

    • +3

Whiskey appreciation is very much a personal preference.

Having said that, as a general fan of Peaty Islay Malts, I agree with your friend… this is one of my faves.

    • Yep at this price point I haven't found better either

      • +2

Ardbeg 10 surely up there for quality and value.

      • As long as you open your bottle of Lagavulin 12 once we are done with our 16s…

Edit 1617hrs, back to no stock again, but I have one in my cart, not sure what's going on.

  • +1

Being a new customer you'll be better of using the Groupon $50 voucher. Lagavulin 16 + beer = $60.

All you had to do was click on the link. How did you even endup on another bottle is beyond me.

  • I think more bottle are added back to stock as they are removing some of the "First time" customer order.

For anyone wondering how peaty this can be, I left a small glass of this uncovered overnight many years ago. I came downstairs and it smelt like I'd had a wood fire burning indoors! Note* I've heard they scaled the peaty-ness back a little over the last couple of years.

  • -2

Tastes shit like any other scotch. I'd much rather just drink a beer, coke or orange juice.

    • +2

      Yeh ok.

    • +1

      Lay off the tren

  • Is anyone going to buy the lagavulin 11 year offerman edition through the whisky club. Its $120 so a premium over this but hey ron swanson

    • +1

Na, gonna sneak a nip off a mate but I've been burnt by too many crap whisky club "exclusives" to give them any more money. They were good at the beginning, and had the occasional stellar release in 2019, but too much expensive crap in between.

99% of the subscription "clubs" are basically scams.

  • damn i keep missing these. want to pick up a cheap bottle for my 30th in december

    • I mention a great ravens hiney of a deal in the above comments. Don't miss out as being 30 is a great milestone. A milestone where i snorkelled two 200ml whiskies.
