I backed up my s8 prior to sending it of for repairs. The s8 is not coming back (long story) so have bought myself a s9+ to keep me going. Any one know if I restore my s8 backup to my s9+ would this cause any major issues?

should not be an issue. i used smart switch to move from my s8+ to s10+, you can be selective about what you restore.
